"Ohmigosh, Ashleigh!!” Evangeline sing-songed as she skipped into Ashleigh and Anna’s dorm. Anna’s bed was empty, unfortunately. Evangeline assumed she was probably in class or doing one of her many clubs, since she was very popular and super involved!

“I can’t believe you’re dating Michael!” Evy gushed, plopping down on Anna’s bed, smiling wide. In her opinion, this was the best news she had received in a very long time.

“Why didn’t you tell me? This is the best news ever. He is so great, I love Michael so much. He is perfect for you and I am sure he will make it so that Henry is nothing more than a bad dream!”

Jesus, thank god that silly little magic drain was over! 

Ashleigh had woken up completely restored to her former self-- any pesky little mortal emotion expunged from her body as if she had never experienced it at all. And really, maras were blessed in that they could only hold onto so much memory. So she didn’t really remember the pity, or the sadness, or the sweetness. 

But what she did remember was her new besties. Whether or not she gained Evangeline through the power of ‘being good’ or whatever, she planned to hold onto that bright, beautiful new friend through the power of... being herself, duh. 

And the best way to do that? A sleepover! And oh my god, Ashleigh needed a cleanse after over a month of feeling so weird. 

“You are going to love Evangelne,” said Ashleigh to Anna as they arrived at Evy’s house. “She’s soooo nice. And beautiful, like, she has perfect skin. I can’t wait to see her routine, you know?”
