A Short Note on #Atheism* - Firm', unyielding atheism and scoffing at, or hatred of, God are more frequently found in those of limited intelligence; in educated individuals whose learning is truncated and who have not studied philosophy and theology in depth; or in individuals suffering from emotional and psychological trauma (sometimes, sadly, at the hands of religious fundamentalists with unhealthy belief systems). Atheism of a milder kind—or #agnosticism—and doubts about the existence of God are often found in those of high intelligence and who have a more expansive intellectual outlook. The nature of our modern educational methodology, which exalts the rubrics of doubt and approaches even philosophical and religious truth by first trying to reject it, spawns this unnatural tendency towards #disbelief. These temptations are almost universal. They are overcome, in the first instance, by piety and, in the second, by humility. As for those reared in traditional piety and humility and nurtured by spiritual love—rare persons in our time—the existence or non-existence of God is usually not a salient issue. For such fortunate and thrice-blessed individuals, the existence of God is as obvious as existence and being themselves.
