Kaminari huffs and goes back to chilling on the couch, pulling Shinsou’s hand back onto his hair. “Don’t stop, I like it.”

Shinsou rolls his eyes. “Let’s order teriyaki.”

Kirishima shakes his head. “I ate that today at Fat Gum’s office. What about Thai?”

“We ate that on Monday,” argues Kaminari. “Not good.”

Shinsou has no preference whatsoever. He’s so hungry he’d eat concrete. “Anything is good. Just let’s agree on something.”

“What would you like to eat?” asks Kaminari, reaching up to tug at his hair playfully.

“You do look—” he starts but his stomach grumbles loudly, interrupting him.

Kaminari laughs at him. “Try again.”

“Indian? A good curry sounds good.” Just of it is enough to make him salivate. He can’t quite remember what he had for lunch. Has he had one?

“Pass,” says Kirishima. To Kaminari’s questioning look he says, “We ate that yesterday with Bakugou. How about burgers and fries?”

Shinsou wishes he could say yes but he shakes his head. “Not good.” He’s been out with Midoriya and they had an American themed day with bagels in the morning and burgers at night. “Pizza?”

“Nah, tomorrow’s movie night, we’ll eat pizza then,” says Kaminari. “What else is there?”

Shinsou loves him but if he doesn’t make up his mind soon, he’s going to force him to eat bland oatmeal. “Sushi, then. You like sushi.”

Kaminari hums, leaning his head into Shinsou’s caresses. “Not now, no.”

“Let’s just grab ramen then,” says Kirishima, gulping loudly. “Come on, we can all order different toppings.” He shifts on the couch, resting his head on Shinsou’s shoulder. “Okay?”

Shinsou reaches up with his other hand, tilting Kirishima’s head until he can comfortably press a soft kiss to his lips. Kirishima returns the kiss eagerly – for a whole minute. As a testament of how hungry he is, he pulls away, red eyes glaring down at Kaminari.

“Okay, Kaminari?”

“I don’t want soup. Too… soupy.”

Kirishima makes a frustrated sound and reaches down to flick Kaminari’s nose. “I’m going to bite you if you don’t make up your mind.”

Kaminari’s eyes widen in mischief as he grins up at them. “Oh, is that a threat? Am I supposed to be—” His voice dissolves into laughter as Shinsou tickles his side over the thin cotton shirt he’s wearing.

“You should be terrified.” He pulls his hands back before Kaminari could zap him. “Three seconds to choose or we’re eating convenience store food.”

Kirishima groans in displeasure but Shinsou can’t show mercy now.

Kaminari sits up and turns on the couch. “I have a better idea.”

“Oh, why don’t I like the sound of that,” murmurs Kirishima.

“Let’s raid Kacchan’s stock. It’s Sunday so he cooked something, 100%. If we’re quick, we can get freshly cooked food without anyone the wiser.”

Shinsou blinks at him in surprise. “That sounds like a suicide mission.” He’s already standing up, though.

“Only if he realises it was us!”

Kirishima looks between them, scratching the back of his neck. “It’s unmanly to steal a friend’s food…” But he looks too hungry to be serious about his argument.

“Come on, he’ll just bully Todoroki into ordering him sushi anyway,” waves Kaminari. “And he won’t even know it was us.”

Shinsou hesitates for a long moment then reminds himself of the last time they had practice with Bakugou. “He won’t be able to prove anything. Let’s go.”

 “Blasty is such a good cook,” moans Shinsou around a piece of crispy chicken. “It was a great idea, Denki.”

“I know, aren’t I the best?” He smiles brightly and Shinsou’s heart skips a beat. He will never tire of the expression that made him fall in love with him.

Kirishima opens his mouth to agree but he falls silent when there’s a loud noise from under their feet and the whole building seems to shake with it. It’s either a repetition of the Big Midoriya Boom or Bakugou’s discovered his food is missing.

“KAMINARIIIIII!”

Oh, it’s the latter. Shinsou calmly gulps his food down. “I think we’d better run.”

“I agree,” laughs Kaminari, trying to grab as many plates as he can.

 It might not be the most heroic thing but as they leave Kaminari’s room, Shinsou hands a plate to Todoroki with a smile. “This is for you.”

Todoroki grabs the plate, confusion written all over his face but Shinsou leaves him before he could ask about the food. It’s enough of a distraction to delay Bakugou who’s stamping up the stairs, crying bloody murder.

“IcyHot, what the fuck is that in your hand?”

“I think your katsudon,” is the last thing Shinsou hears before the elevator doors close behind them.

One thing is certain – Bakugou won’t kill Todoroki. Probably.

It’s easier to focus on her anger and not let worry grip her heart with icy fingers. She needs to stay calm and collected as the rescue mission progresses. If only it was something more action-packed, a villain she could punch or guards to take out, anything but this! The painstaking monotonicity of removing large debris out of the way and digging her way towards Bakugou is the cruellest torture. She concentrates on clearing the path, half-listening to Kirishima and Deku behind her back, working with a dozen others on stabilising the debris behind her.

She trusts them as well as her own power as she continues working. Her hands don’t even shake, her resolve iron-hard as she pushes on, ignoring the nausea tickling the back of her throat. She is on a mission – her priority is getting Bakugou out. Nothing else matters at that moment. There’s one way to go and that’s forward so she takes a deep breath, ignoring her wildly beating heart and the anxiety jittering her brain.

It’s like playing Jenga on expert level – if she moves the wrong piece of concrete, the whole structure might collapse on itself, burying the survivors into their early graves.

She knows Bakugou’s alive because his heart is still beating. The monitors were created and included in their costumes exactly for this reason. They still share the same costume designer, so the dots aren’t the only thing they have in common sewn into the textile.

After three painstakingly long hours, Uraraka uncovers the first civilian. They get eight people out, all alive. That’s the only thing that registers to Uraraka – they’re breathing and okay. From then on the paramedics must take care of them, not her. A hero’s job is finished. She can focus on what her heart has been urging her to do since the beginning – check and make sure Bakugou’s alright.

She kneels next to the coughing Bakugou, raising a bottle of water to his lips to help him drink. He tries to talk but she shushes him. “Just drink, Bakusatsuou, just d-drink.” She curses her wavering voice but the adrenaline’s started to wear off. “You’re safe now.” He seems alright, bruised and covered in dust but no bones are poking out, no blood pooling around him. It’s a good sign.

“You won’t shut me up,” he wheezes and Uraraka rolls her eyes.

“I’ll knock you out and blame a falling rock if you don’t shut up.”

The corner of his lips twitches up but he scoffs all the same. With this settled, Uraraka touches him, making him weightless as she raises him, carrying his bigger frame with relative ease. She’s been saving the last of her power for this and this only – to be strong enough to save him.

“My hero,” he murmurs.

“I’ll drop you,” threatens Uraraka, but she only seems to amuse Bakugou further. She can’t fault him when she knows there’s a smile on her face too. She’s just so relieved she can barely contain herself. Even though she doesn’t need to, she holds onto Bakugou tightly.

 Once she puts him down to the back of the ambulance, she has half a mind to just collapse right then and there, let the others handle the paperwork and the cleanup. She needs to sleep for the next 15 hours. Before she could do that, however, Bakugou grabs the front of her costume and drags her close.

“You saved me,” he says lowly.

Uraraka panics from the proximity of his beautiful face so she says the first thing that pops into her mind. “Don’t get used to it.” She would walk into fire for this man. Still, she’s smart enough not to expect gratitude. Uraraka’s just been doing her job, after all.

“You dug me out like a mole.”

Uraraka snorts. “What does that make you?”

“The treasure you found.”

Uraraka laughs at that because it’s that pointless bullshit Bakugou would say. He lets her clothes go and slides his hands onto her cheeks, thumbs wiping the tears away. Oh, she’s been crying? For how long?

He doesn’t ask, she honestly hasn’t thought he would, but he leans in so slowly she has ample time to pull back or turn her head. She does none of those things: she meets his challenge head-on, closing the remaining distance between their faces and kissing him first. His hands come up around her back and pull her flush against his body. Uraraka doesn’t know who’s more desperate to kiss the other senseless, but she’d wager it’s her.

Uraraka forgets where they are until the paramedic politely coughs into her hand. “Oh. Oh! Sorry. I’ll leave him to you.”

Before she could step away, Bakugou’s hand finds hers, and he doesn’t let go. So she stays.

The white cat squints at him and repeats, “Wah.” Its tail is curling into an elegant ? as it observes Bakugou.

“Excuse me?!”

“There you are!” Todoroki seems to appear out of thin air. He leans down, scratches the cat’s head and picks up the box. “Hey, Bakugou.”

Did he just notice him?!

“Oi. What’s in the box?”

Todoroki rips the box open, throwing it haphazardly on the floor. “Cat bed.”

As if that explains anything. “Why?”

“For… the cat?” Todoroki blinks at him slowly, as if Bakugou was stupid.

“Since when do you have a cat?”

“Princess isn’t mine. She’s Momo’s. We’re pet sitting.”

This is officially the worst day of Bakugou’s life.

“WE?!”

“Yeah. The apartment is too small for you to avoid Princess. Unless you’re allergic.”

“You know damn well I’m not.”

Todoroki smiles a bit as he says, “Then it’s settled.” He turns on his heels and walks away. Princess trots happily after him.

“It’s NOT settled!”

Todoroki pretends not to hear him.

After a shower, Bakugou feels a lot more relaxed. He heads to the kitchen to find something for dinner.

Surprisingly, Todoroki’s in the kitchen, chopping something at the counter. Princess is drawing figure eights between his legs, screaming up a storm.

“I don’t appreciate this tone,” Todoroki mumbles, gently pushing the cat away with his left foot.

“Are you making dinner?” Bakugou’s stomach flutters. It’s usually him who whips up something, as his love language is about taking care of people.

“Huh?” Todoroki turns back to face him. “This is for Princess.”

Bakugou’s heart skips a beat as he notices the pink flesh of the fish on the cutting board. “Are you chopping sushi-grade salmon for the cat?”

“Yeah, duh.” Todoroki carelessly waves at the fridge. “We still have leftover fried rice. Help yourself.”

Bakugou thinks, fuck this, and moves to take a slice of salmon to himself. Todoroki’s hand moves faster than light as he slaps his away.

“Shoo!”

“You’re unbelievable!”

He didn’t even shoo at the cat!

Bakugou ends up eating the fried rice, grumbling all the way while the cat eats salmon.

“You’re spoiling her.”

“Yaoyorozu exclusively feeds her Norwegian salmon.”

Go figures. “It’s a cat! You think she can tell the difference?”

“I’ve never asked.” Todoroki squats and scratches the cat’s chin. “Can you tell the difference?”

“Mrrp!”

“I think that’s a yes.”

Bakugou rolls his eyes and puts his dishes into the sink. “You don’t speak cat.” He doesn’t, right?

Bakugou’s not so sure when the cat seems to follow Todoroki’s cues to answer him every time he asks. Weirdo.

Bakugou leaves them in the kitchen because he can’t watch Todoroki feed treats to the cat and make kissy noises at it.

He flops down on the couch and turns on the tv. He finds a boring channel to stare at. The only purpose it serves is to drown out the noises from the kitchen. It’s not like he’s interested. But Todoroki and his noises… Bakugou hasn’t been kissed by him. Not since the mistletoe accident. And that has been months ago.

After a while, Todoroki joins him on the couch, curling up on the other end of it. The cat follows him and finds the fluffy bed on the floor. She starts kneading at the soft edge of it immediately.

“Look, Bakugou, she loves it!”

“Pft. Yeah.”

Bakugou knows he shouldn’t ask but curiosity gets the better of him. “How much did you spend on the bed?”

Todoroki makes a noncommittal noise. He is trying to take a picture of the cat, ignoring Bakugou’s question.

“Todoroki.”

“A couple hundred.”

“How much?”

When Todoroki keeps ignoring him and starts ‘pspsps’ing at the cat instead, Bakugou gives up.

“Our lease doesn’t allow pets, Todoroki.”

“I know. Princess will only stay a couple of days.”

And yet you bought her a brand new bed, huh? “Just a couple.”

“Yes.”

“Fine.” Not that he could have said anything else. If only Todoroki wasn’t so fond of the cat…

“Wanna cuddle?”

Bakugou’s heart skips a beat. “Yes,” he breaths out, trying to keep his excitement in check. He looks at Todoroki who stares back at him, blinking slowly.

Oh.

“I was talking to the cat.”

OH.

“But you’re welcome to—”

Bakugou slams a pillow in his face. “FORGET IT!” He stomps right into his room, slamming the door.

Curse the cat, curse Todoroki and curse HIMSELF for admitting wanting to cuddle!

Bakugou aggressively declutters the top of his dresser. It’s too early to sleep and he needs to go out to brush his teeth anyway. But right now he wants to avoid Todoroki and his knowing eyes.

He gets half an hour to calm down when a polite knock disturbs his cleaning process.

“Go away.”

Todoroki carefully pops his head in. “I’m going to bed. I’ll have an early shift tomorrow.”

“Okay.”

“Goodnight.”

Todoroki waits patiently until Bakugou gathers himself and says it back. “Goodnight. Half n half.”

A little bit after tucking himself in, Bakugou feels the bed dip, and he almost gets a heart attack.

“What the fuck—”

There is a soft purring coming from the end of his bed to answer his question. Princess crawls over him, stepping on his kidney in the process, and comes to curl up in the crook of his elbow.

“Oh, wow.”

Her purring gets louder as she starts kneading Bakugou’s blanket.

“Fine, you can stay.” Only because Bakugou will never let Todoroki live this down.

In the morning, Bakugou’s already packing his lunch when Todoroki emerges from his bedroom, yawning. The cat trots next to him, excitedly. Probably expecting her breakfast from him. When Bakugou left her, she was deep asleep on his pillow. Furry asshole.

“Did you sleep well, Princess?”

“Yes, thanks for asking.”

Bakugou blinks at Todoroki who looks back with open shock. “Oh.”

Bakugou smirks at him, a shark smelling blood in the water. “Good to know.”

Todoroki clears his throat and proceeds to ignore Bakugou.
