1. Why is your character's eye color the way it is? Is it random, or not?

In drow form, Esse most commonly has pale blue eyes, though he’ll switch to his natural purple-pink if he’s feeling particularly lazy. He tends to change his eye color depending on his fancy, and sometimes his outfit. Being able to shapeshift has its perks. As a dragon he is less inclined to glamour himself, so he typically sticks to his bright purple-pink. Fun fact: pink is his favorite color!

Meta answer: I’ll get into it a bit more in the next section, but originally Esse was just a WoW nightborne oc, and I wanted to translate over their glowy eyes to his drow form.

2. Who gave your character their name?

Essechronax - his 'true name', a combination of the draconic words for 'anticipation' and 'time'. Only allies (such as the Jaelre) are privy to it. Lord of the Dark Garden - a name given to him by duergar, svifnerblin, and drow who live in the neighborhood of his lair due to the extreme amount of fungi that grows both in its vicinity as well as from his body when in his dragon form. Chronas/Cronus - while he is very careful when skulking about the Dalelands, his presence there is not unknown to the humans who live there. They heard the Jaelre call him by his true name and extrapolated the name Chronas from it.

Meta answer: his original name as a nightborne was Espoire, pronounced like the French word for ‘hope’. When I was deciding on what his Realms name should be, I knew I wanted his name to still start with an E and thought it would be nice if it had a similar meaning. I looked through the draconic word dictionaries I could find online as well as at canon deep dragon names to kind of get an idea of what it should sound like. A lot of canon deeps have names with SS sounds and kind of a whispery vibe. I also looked around for words that meant 'things yet to happen' or similar, which is where the 'chrono' part of the name came from. One night right before I fell asleep, the name 'Essechronax' came to me, and I thought it was perfect.

3. Does your character have tattoos? What do they mean?

Esse likes to shift with a stylized scorpion tattoo accross his back. It glows under ultraviolet light. This man is very extra.
