@puripuripo commissioned two separate blurbs, one for their apprentice Esli and the other for Marin, respectively with Julian and Muriel. Hope you enjoy! 283 Words
Marin found that she was happiest while she was baking. It was easy, and it made sense. She could follow the steps, and create something absolutely perfect. It tasted good, and it made people happy.
But sitting with Muriel, there was a different kind of happy there. She couldn’t really put her finger on it, exactly, or understand why being with him made things feel like they were tangible, easy enough to make sense, even if the rational side of her understood that they weren’t.
Things were never simple, but, while she was in his arms, she could convince herself that things were alright. He made them so, with his quiet gestures and - though scarce - compliments. She smiles, and she feels beautiful, with him. She musses her hair and sits with him, and decides that this made her even happier than baking.
Julian has a smile on that means trouble, and Esli knows that he’ll be dragged into something fun - everything was fun with Julian, and this particular brand that was being promised was welcome for the evening.
“Let’s head out to the Raven, love.” Julian suggests, clasping his hands together and grinning from ear to ear, and it works - Esli is convinced, and they drink, and they drink, and they hold themselves against one another well into the night, scream singing some shanty that Esli didn’t know the words to and Julian was doing his damnedest to remember.
Esli lets his lips brush against Julian’s jaw on purpose, though he frames it like an accident, of course, and the kiss, full on the mouth, that he gets in return, is absolutely toe-curling.
Esli could get used to this particular brand of fun.
