Horse figure of the day: Ertl Baby's First Bank
Today's model is an Ertl horse, part of the Farm Country Collectible Animals series. He is the Percheron Stallion, and he was originally sold along with a foal in 1996. Sadly, the foal is long since lost. I can't find any information on the sculptors for this line, so if anyone has any information, I would appreciate it!
Anyway, there's a slightly funny story about how I ended up with this guy (back) in my collection. He was originally one of my childhood toys (I had a few Ertl horses from this series) but upon finding him in storage years later, I gave him to a friend. I wasn't collecting model horses at that time, so it felt okay to let him go.
Years later (this year, actually) my friend was also going through their things and letting items go. This guy ended up as one of those items, and they offered him back to me. For whatever reason, I found myself drawn to him once again, and now he's back.
For those unfamiliar, these models are roughly Stablemate scale, and made of a tough vinyl. This is what the original set would've looked like:

One thing to note about Rheneas is that several merchandise ranges depicted him as being painted pinkish-red despite his TV series model being more of an orange-red colour. The merchandise livery may have been inspired by the second illustration of Four Little Engines. All of the Skarloey Railway engines were depicted as pinkish-red in that book. More recent merchandise lines do give Rheneas his TV series colours.
