It’s Exactly Who You Think It Is aka Prompt 20: Their reaction to a mystery love letter

Let us return to Noxus, pre-departure in the Erikaverse! So, what I had originally stated about Erika and her life in Noxus had consisted of academy (something I hadn’t really touched upon; she most likely went to the equivalent of our real world public schools since her family wasn’t wealthy), training to join the Noxian Guard and odd jobs for her father. These odd jobs were mainly deliveries from the blacksmith (reminder: blacksmith=her father, Iver) to his local customers, usually in the Noxian marketplaces, or to private owners, such as (apparently Iver’s number one customer?) Marcus Du Couteau. Talon, in one of my written-out headcanons, notices Erika on one of her deliveries and asks her why in the world would two sensible adults entrust a handcrafted weapon with a child to deliver in the dark, dangerous streets of Noxus (at night!). She doesn’t really have an answer, except for incomprehensible babbling and confusion, but I would think that Riven made sure to follow her sister and keep an eye on her whenever possible, to make sure that Erika was safe. (Ironically, the headcanon in which Talon asks her that question is the headcanon where he kills five people to save Erika’s life.) If not Riven following Erika on her deliveries (Riven probably off and doing stuff for the Noxian Guard), then I’d imagine Talon, after becoming acquainted with the young girl, would keep tabs on her… probably an order from the General, who wanted his packages to continue coming in safely. (What in the world would Marcus Du Couteau even purchase from a blacksmith anyway? More daggers and knives? …To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s exactly what he bought.)

His fingers brushed across the soft grip of a well-kept blade handle, and he let out a quiet breath as he lifted the dark blue hood over his head. He slid his favorite blade into a sheath within his cloak and glanced at the young girl in front of him. She tilted her head to the side, and he rolled his eyes. This was her first mission, he had to remind himself, and she was very good at getting herself into trouble. To make it all worse, the sun had already gone down, and she had a habit of tripping over the smallest of things in the dark.

“You have the other one, don’t you?” he asked quietly, gripping the handle of the hidden blade tightly. 

She tried very hard to hide the nervous swallow, but nothing ever went past the assassin’s keen eyes. After a moment, she dug her nails into the palm of her hands and nodded. 

He let out a sigh of relief and held his hand out, motioning for her to give him her hand. She did so, albeit with much caution, and bit her lip (one of the nervous habits of hers that he noticed from the moment they met). His large, calloused hands gripped her smaller, lithe ones tightly, and he pried her fingers open. With a slight hint of regret, he placed the dagger onto the palm of her hand and closed her fingers over the handle. 

“Hide this somewhere. Maybe your sleeve or -” Quickly growing conscious of how odd it would be for a 18 year-old to direct a 11 year-old where to stuff a sharp weapon, he immediately rephrased his sentence, “-ju-just make sure you make use of them if you need to.” He wanted to press his palm against his face, but this wasn’t the time for that. The poor girl was already having an anxiety attack at his mere presence, and he needed her to be coherent enough to listen to directions.

“…But I-”

“Don’t argue with me!” He winced at hearing his own voice crack when he tried to shout through gritted teeth. Damn girl was difficult to be around in any normal setting, and her inability to follow orders was testing his patience. Why the hell did the General insist she be brought along? “I’m trying my damnedest to keep your sorry ass safe, Erika.” He knew that she never reacted well when someone shouted at her (and sometimes, he felt sorry for her, whenever Katarina decided to find reasons to threaten the girl), but it was the only way to get through to that thick skull of hers.

She tensed, but nodded and slid the dagger into one of her boots (and remind me, he thought, why she’s wearing BOOTS right now?). The gods damn him for this - for all of this. Damn girl shouldn’t have ever been forced into a situation like this. He knew that this was a bad idea, though he wasn’t sure why he’d ever care for the life of a child who was constantly pestering him. It wasn’t as if Talon actually liked her; granted, he would be better off if she did disappear from his life! (Or so he liked to convince himself.) He wasn’t a damn babysitter - he was an assassin. He killed people without regret, without remorse, and here he was, being trailed by the innocent younger sister of a well-known Noxian commander.

The Fool: What is the stupidest thing your muse has ever done?

[ Fallen in love. snorts and is shot at the cliche response. This is actually quite true, as she fell in love with Talon at a very early age, and more or less revolved her life around him. More specifically, she has done a lot of random things for any semblance of his affection (which Talon doesn’t exactly show). One scene that I just came up with randomly right now is this specific stupid thing:
