Vocal coach Eric Vetro on working with Timothée Chalamet to prepare for A Complete Unknown:

“We worked hard to capture the spirit and essence of Bob Dyan’s voice and distinctive vocal delivery without ever letting it become a caricature of him.... That’s always the challenge when working with an actor portraying a famous singer – helping them sound like the person but without doing an impersonation of them.”

Having collaborated with Chalamet before on 2023’s sugar-rush musical Wonka, Vetro spent seven months helping the actor to morph into Dylan. “Timothée would walk in as himself. He has a vibrant, high-energy personality. All of a sudden, when we were doing vocal warm-ups, he would start sounding – and actually looking – like Bob Dylan. He’d adopt his mannerisms and facial expressions and it was exhilarating to watch.” He’s similarly ebullient about co-star Monica Barbaro’s ability to channel Joan Baez. “Without question, they’ve both nailed it.”

I feel so lucky I get to work with great artists like the amazing @gerardway of the incredible band @mychemicalromance who rocked @dodgerstadium Sat night! 🎶 Their current stadium tour sold out in a matter of hours and with good reason - the show is SPECTACULAR! 💥The 1st half is a dramatically performed performance of their album the Black Parade and the 2nd half of the show is them doing a variety of their songs! The evening was completely thrilling and I’m so honored to work with Gerard!
