Divergent Eric Asks
To Old Followers and New:
For ages now some of you (or maybe it’s just one of you) have been sending me hypothetical questions about Eric that get passed onto @mylastnameisntcoulter to answer as well, which I take great delight in answering (especially because I try to do a new Eric edit to fit each one, and that’s a fun challenge). I know I went on hiatus a few times and took a long while to answer some of them, but just letting you all know that I have resumed answering them and in a much more timely fashion (at least that’s the plan).
That being said, there were three or four asks I hadn’t gotten to before I deleted my old blog (YES I KNOW THAT WAS REALLY FUCKING STUPID), and I think I only vaguely recall what one or two of them were at most. So if any of you out there sent in a question that I haven’t answered, feel free to send it again; if not, I’ll try to remember the gist of them. I sincerely apologize for this momentary and hopefully one-off incident of insanity. Send in new ones. Send in requests for edits. Go wild.
I’m jumping back into this head-first, so hit me with whatever you got.
lol Eric: "Sam and Jacob, all these guys are so friggin' good-looking that I'm sure when they walk down the street they always have people lookingat them."
Eric stanning the rest of the cast is genuinely one of the best things about him, haha.
I think Eric may have been talking about season 2 being mostly with Jacob and Assad, but actually, if they're not doing the documentary past the first couple episodes maybe, then perhaps Daniel and Lestat aren't around each other THAT much, at least not nearly as much as Daniel was around Louis and Armand for the first two seasons.
That's so sweet what he says about Sam and Jacob. And again that's interesting, it seems like he's saying that they don't have a lot of ego and are really generous with each other in the way that two stars of a show might not always be, like maybe one would be more concerned about looking like the "main" star?

I thought initially he was just referring to s2 too, but him going from saying he did most of his scenes with Jacob and Assad to talking about Jacob and Sam acting together before talking about never getting to film with Delainey kind of gave me pause? The way he talked about Sam's performance just kind of implied a bit of distance to me, I guess, especially given how specific he can be when talking about acting with Jacob and Assad. Even more so given he kind of dropped that little spoiler about Daniel and Gabriella, haha.
As you said though, it would make sense that they wouldn't be around each other tons if the documentary falls apart fairly quickly, and even more so if Lestat's actively avoiding Daniel half the time when they are making it, which it seems from what's been said there's a good chance that he is? From the leaks we've seen too, it looks like Lestat's going to be confronting his past more with Louis than with Daniel, which moves that emotional reckoning anchor from Daniel-and-Louis back to Lestat-and-Louis, which means a lot of those type of intense scenes will likely be between Sam and Jacob rather than Sam and Eric. He could be just trying not to reveal anything though too.
And yeah! It's lovely what he says about Sam and Jacob. They really do seem like such a creative partnership, and one that creates a good and inspiring culture on set. I can imagine there would be a bit of nervousness that there could be tension with the focus shifting to Lestat, but it sounds like that's been handled well. :-)
Sam is in the stratosphere through the whole season, it’s just insanity what he’s doing!
The way everyone is talking about Sam's performance, I feel like this is going to be the great acting/performing showcase any actor has ever had lol

I'm here trying to temper my expectations, and nobody involved with this show will let me, haha. It really does seem like such a showcase for him though, as you said, and it can't come soon enough!

This is so lovely, anon. I just love the way this cast talks about each other and the show and the set, it's just seems so special to all of them, and it makes me so excited for s3!
Also I'm 👀 at Daniel flirting with Gabriella, haha.
You’d be amazed how some actors … are actually not good actors. They’re thinking about what they look like and all this crap. Jacob can’t be thinking about what he looks like because sometimes he looks really nasty. He’s letting the emotions build out of him. And yet he’s always very adept at sculpting what he’s doing. It’s a great company. I never work with Sam, I just see him all the time on set, but that scene in the courtroom, and the scene in New Orleans … where’s that shit coming from? The emotion is wild.
I already love what Eric said about Sam here, and other places. He really seems amazed by all the younger actors he's working with.

Me too! Eric always says such lovely things about Jacob (and Sam), and this is kind of tangential, but I'm really excited for his role to really get to open up this season and for him to get to do more things (and work with more people! Especially Sam, haha). It feels like he'll be less of an audience entry point next season (although still sort of filling that role?) which is just really exciting to me.
Eric: Well we know that Sam and Jacob—Cause Sam and Jacob are like, born into some kind of royalty, so they just take it for granted.

lol I love Eric but I'm not 100% sure what he's saying here, is he saying (in the context in the post) that Sam and Jacob are so handsome that they seem like royalty, so they're used to people complimenting their looks?
I hadn't seen this before, anon, and I'm lowkey dying, hahahaha.
But yeah, I think he's just saying that he thinks they're so obviously beautiful that getting attention is normal for them in a way that it's maybe not for others, haha.
