Re the inspiration thing: Instead of focusing on trying to draw something elaborate, you should just spend that time doing quick sketches of whatever the hell you want. Sometimes you'll come across something while sketching that you like enough to elaborate on and do a big painting of. Not always, but that's okay, because if you don't you'll have a bunch of sketches done and sketching lots of stuff is never a bad thing.
I found this out myself over the last week. Burn out on all these big things or something in particular that’s given me a lot of trouble, just switch gears and draw something else entirely.
Doesn’t even have to be finished or posted publicly, either, just so long as it’s filling the page and I’m learning what (not) to do in the process.
One thing’s for sure: it’s better to keep moving than to just beat my head on one little thing over and over again until it somehow looks right.

Yeah, do a few gesture drawings to loosen up, and then just pick the first one that comes to your mind. Don't try to think about all the others when you start something
You guys are both onto something here. I always remember about the Pose Maniacs gesture drawings, but keep forgetting about Pixelovely for some stupid reason, even though I could've sworn I had it shortcutted somewhere.
Now if it wasn't almost 5am Eastern right now...I should've spent the last few hours doing just this instead of messing about with overclocking my desktop again.

Straight back with a drafting table / easel is best for me. Most comfortable and doesn't hurt my back.
I've recently been experimenting a bit with my bedroom desk and this one laptop desk with a tilt function that makes it act a bit like a drafting table.
My biggest dilemma thus far is that putting the thick laptop desk on the bedroom desk's keyboard tray and angling it up slightly has the perfect drafting table angle to it, great for drawing on because my hand rests on it naturally, but it leaves no room for a keyboard. Using a Tablet PC without a keyboard and without a finger touch digitizer can get pretty annoying, even with ModLock. It's just the nature of most Windows art apps having interfaces designed with keyboard shortcuts in mind.
If I place it on top of the desk like you'd expect, the laptop desk is so thick that it really puts the tablet computer up high in slate mode, too much for an improvised drafting table. Raising my chair any higher means my legs hit the keyboard tray underneath, which is set a bit lower than I'd like. I can prop it up almost vertical so it's more of an easel, which makes it near-perfect as a primary monitor and thus keeps things easier on my neck, but I'm not sure I'll get used to drawing on a surface quite that vertical while sitting down. Don't want any "gorilla arm" pains.
ohey apparently asks are the in thing right now for you. Just wanted to say that whenever a post of yours pops up on my dash it always brightens my day up. I've been stressing about how slow my art has been progressing, but your optimism always seems to make me feel better. Hope you're doing well!
