This statement was said to me today with real affection. 🙄 It was like they were throwing me a bone to stop me from breaking inside. Like it was just enough to get me to hang in there or maybe just enough to make me want to give up this whole Year of Less But better and get back to ‘normal’ life. Chances are their plot is skewed toward the latter as they are really starting to miss the street cred of branded snacks in their lunch boxes. ‘All the other kids have this in their lunch box and that in their lunch box. Why don’t we have this in our lunches boxes or that in our lunch boxes’, has been the constant refrain for the last week. I’m dying to meet whoever all these other kids are, so far I haven’t extracted any names from them. It’s all very esoteric. Each time I have kindly and lovingly reminded them that this year we are doing things differently and this we are going to change things in our lives for the better. Unfortunately, they do not seem to buy this reason for embracing the No Spend Year as I did. However, I did try to take a different tact today. I decided to appeal to their spiritual side and had a talk with them about the mental change that they could embrace this year. I described to them in great detail how they will grow as people and see the world from a different viewpoint. I explained how they would really know who their friends were because real friends wouldn’t judge them for the contents of their lunch boxes or the amount new toys that they received. A real friend would love them for who they are and their personality. It's a long time since I’ve seen them laugh that hard. 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 #epicdad #likemom #heymom #lessismore #kids #kidsquotes #spendless #frugalliving #schoolfriends #whatislove #westilllovethem #savemoremoney #realfriends (at Ireland (country)) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bsd7pgel8dx/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=5d3i5fq49y6u
