On November 6, 1985, one of the worst events in Colombia’s history took place. The guerrilla group M-19 stormed the Palace of Justice, the Colombian version of the Supreme Court, and took the place hostage. It is believed that Escobar paid M-19 $1 million dollars to burn all the evidence against him that was held at the Palace, although this is fiercely debated.
