Oggi , 11 anni fa' , il 28 luglio del 2010 il tenente Mauro Gigli, veniva ucciso in Afghanistan da mano terroristica , durante un'operazione di disinnesco di un ordigno esplosivo. A costo della sua vita, salvò quella di numerosi colleghi, guadagnandosi la Medaglia d'Oro al Valor Militare.

Today, 11 years ago, on July 28, 2010, Lieutenant Mauro Gigli was killed in Afghanistan by a terrorist hand, during an explosive device defusing operation. At the cost of his life, he saved that of numerous colleagues, earning the Gold Medal for Military Valor.

Come è noto nell’ambito del Sistema individuale di combattimento (Sic) , l’APX semiautomatica calibro 9×19 mm, insieme ai fucili d’assalto ARX-160 calibro 5,56×45 mm e ARX-200 calibro 7,62×51 mm per incarichi “marksman” nonché con il lanciagranate GLX-160 calibro 40×46 mm, completa con la pistola mitragliatrice PMX calibro 9×19 mm la dotazione del “Soldato Futuro” evoluto nel tempo in “Soldato Sicuro”.

La Beretta APX Full Size Standard andrà a sostituire la Beretta mod. 92 FS, sempre calibro 9×19 mm, entrata in servizio nei primi anni ’90 del secolo passato al posto della Beretta mod. 34 calibro 9 corto, distribuita a partire dal lontano 1936.

Caratteristiche

Impiega caricatori bifilari per 17 colpi, ha un peso attorno i 760 grammi ed lunghezza totale di 192 mm con la canna di 108 mm.

La nuova pistola polimerica adotta un sistema di chiusura stabile geometrica tipo Browning modificato e l’azione a percussore lanciato.

That morning 17 years ago at 10.40 am (Baghdad time) 8.40 am Italian, (I remember as if it were today) the headquarters of the MSU (Multinational Specialized Unit) carabinieri, a tank truck forced the entrance to the building, which once housed the city's chamber of commerce, only to be blown up. On the vehicle there was a kamikaze and on board it had between 350 and 500 kilos of explosives, subsequently causing the explosion of the ammunition depot of the base and leading to the death of several people including Carabinieri, military and civilians.
