You Can Save the Sea with EJF
My memories of the ocean take me back to my childhood holidays.Ā Never having lived by the sea I was always intrigued, if not a little daunted, by its vastness. There is so much we don't know about what lies at the bottom of the ocean floor. I have an Atlantis-style fantasy of another dreamworld that lives below us.
Ā With overfishing, oil spills and a worrying amount of toxic plastic being deposited each day in our ocean it is hard to imagine what will remain once humankind is done with it.
Ā Our children may never experience places like the Maldives, a nation at risk of disappearing altogether into the Big Blue, due to rising sea levels and climate change. We may also lose some, or all, of our Great Barrier Reef, along with countless species of fish and underwater creatures, reducing biodiversity. This leads me onto the EJF.
Ā The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF) is a UK- based non-profit organisation working internationally to protect the environment and defend human rights.Ā For their latest collection āSave The Seaā designers Emma Cook, Patternity and Serge DeNimes have each donated a bespoke ocean-inspired design for EJF.
100% of funds raised will go directly towards EJFās work protecting ocean ecosystems and threatened species including sharks, turtles, rays and dolphins, and promoting the need for transparency and traceability in seafood supply chains.
Other people supporting the EJF include Katharine Hamnett, Christian Lacroix, Giles Deacon, Kenzo Takada, Luella, Eley Kishimoto, Jenny Packham, Lily Cole, Naomi Campbell, Erin OāConnor, David Gandy, Gillian Anderson, Poppy Delevigne and Jade Parfitt.
The T-shirts are produced with 100% organic cotton, printed with Soil Association certified inks, and are Fair Wear Foundation certified for labour standards and fair trading.Ā
Photographed is the Vivienne Westwood Tee design from the Climate Refugees Collection, as the drawn illustrations appealed to me a little more, supported by the caption āHow did I create 38 million climate refugees?ā.
I teamed it with a vintage leopard print faux fur skirt from eBay, mesh top underneath and choker from the amazing Therapy + Recycle and Exorcise, an upcycling jewellery brand from Berlin. Finished with second hand Nike Air Force 1s from Wavey Garms. And I thought the solar panel-backdrop would be a nice touch. What do you think?

The Biggest Climate March In History
The 21st September marked a day of activism, with over 570,000 people coming together in over 161 countries to protest for 100% clean energy in the Peoples Climate March 2014.
Ā I went with Greenpeace to protest alongside organisations such as Friends of the Earth, 38 Degrees, WWF and People and Planet. Celebrities who supported the march included Cara Delavigne, Vivienne Westwood and Emma Thompson.
Ā We gathered at Temple station before walking the Greenpeace banner and three of our polar bears towards Westminster, along the River Thames. There were people as far as the eye could see on. At Westminster everyone met in one large group, a band was playing and large inflated balls being thrown around.
Ā The march was ahead of the UN Summit, which started on the 23rd September where global leaders came together to advance climate action.
Ā With over 40,000 attending the London march, it really showed the passion that people have to change our current path.

The documentary āThe Next Black - A Film about the Future of ClothingāĀ gives great insight into the future of the digital fashion industry, exploring ideas of wearable tech, dyeing without water and buying less and making clothing last longer.
Studio XO, Patagonia, Adidas and Biocouture allĀ feature, making this the perfect watch for a lazy Sunday afternoon in the sun.
