Tasha's weekly review: unpublished authors of short stories
Link: enpoisonner
Seventeen year old Marine is an outstanding and thought provoking unpublished author who seemingly favours short flash fiction pieces. Each narrative is beautifully written, contemplative and enchanting. She has successfully managed to depict an entire relationship into six hundred and twenty-two words in her provocative tale "it started with a name". During her text-type interview, Marine was asked if there were any authors she was inspired by, interestingly however, she declared that she was in fact most stimulated by visual aids, such as movies of television programmes. Marine stated she could conjure flash fiction narrative ideas from short scenes, such as a couple sleeping into the afternoon or rain falling on a window. Marine confided she has been writing since the age of eleven or twelve, and has not known a time when she didn't have a plot organised inside her head and it often takes precedence over her high school coursework.
So let's get technical up in here for a quick sec! Her style is somewhat unique, and although is similar to other authors I have come across before, it's also completely different. Her quick paced imagery and highly descriptive tenor attracts the reader and pulls them into her written reality very well.
In my opinion, Marine has shared a collection of beautiful short narratives with central focus on relationships, love and life as a young adult and I would be a liar if I said I didn't cry at least once. In fact, as soon as I read "it started with a name", I immediately read it aloud to my mother and two sisters and they were just as struck as I. I'm not telling you to go and read every single thing she has ever posted, but you will kick yourself if you don't! It's free, it's beautiful and she's a young and talented writer who deserves recognition for her outstanding flash fiction! So what you waiting for? Go tumblr stalk!
