TODAY IS THE DAY! E9 is proud to announce the entrance of a remarkable and legendary climber into our special team: Frédéric Nicole. Fred was born in Switzerland in 1970. He’s one of the world’s most influential climber, known both for rock climbing and bouldering. In 1987, at 16, along with his brother Francois, he repeated Patrick Berhault’s “Le Toit d’Auguste”. In 1996 he made the first ascent of “Radja", the world’s first 8b+ problem and in 2000 he did the same with the famous “Dreamtime”, followed by a series of even more difficult problems. In rock climbing he established the world’s third 9a, “Bain de Sang”. The emotion you feel being with Fred is not only due to the pride of meeting such a great legend but mostly to his peculiarity of revealing his own soul through the eyes. He capture the meaning and the beauty in each single rock, of any shapes and everywhere, with the curiosity of someone deeply capable of seeing always something new and different. Fred lives his life closely to the nature, with balance and simplicity. He travels the world, together with his partner Mary and his brother Francois, looking for new rocks and areas to express himself, leaving his mark wherever he goes. Rocklands and Hueco Tanks prove that. When he climbs his look and moves are calm but settled, as when he walks the street. His approach to the rock is yet calm but clear and fascinating.
