I found this production riveting when I saw it in London last November. You miss a lot by not being able to see the stage action and William Kentridge’s designs but it’s still a good listen, especially if you know the story (perhaps from seeing the Met HD of the same production in New York). The show is well cast across the board but for me the highlights are Brenda Rae’s Lulu (whose erratic behavior always seemed to me to be driven by a strong instinct for survival) and Sarah Connolly’s Geschwitz (tender, innocent, heartbreaking).
Don’t plan on this video sticking around for very long.

ENO Lulu broadcast in January
I’ve just spotted this on the BBC website: the excellent ENO production of Alban Berg’s Lulu from this past November is scheduled for broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on January 7 and should be available on demand for a month afterward. I highly recommend listening for Brenda Rae’s Lulu as well as for Sarah Connolly’s Countess Geschwitz. I’ll try to blog a reminder closer to the broadcast date.
