Maybe it’s just because both of these worlds are colour coded in general but I kinda like it as a media trend and a fashion statement. People should go round in their pride colours!!!!!

“H‘lo?”

“Hi, um, don’t hang up!”

“Who is this?”

Eddie sighed, leaning back against the cinder block wall to scrub his free hand over his face. He was too fucked up for this.

“Well before I tell you that, I’m calling because I’m stuck somewhere and I needed a ride…”

“Stuck somewhere? At three in the morning?”

“Correct. That place may be, um, downtown…”

There was a quiet rustling and Eddie forced himself not to think about a warm body under fancy sheets.

“Are you using your one call from jail to call me to bail you out but you’re not even going to tell me who you are?” Steve sighed, but he didn’t sound upset. Maybe Eddie had a chance.

“I’m not not saying that.”

“Why would I do that?”

“Because I don’t have anyone else to call. And you don’t have to bail me out. They said I just need someone to come pick me up, or you could just sign me out and I’ll get home. I’ll just walk-“

Steve made a small indignant noise. “I’m not making you walk home.”

“Very chivalrous of you, Stevie,” he said, lowering his voice. He told himself to chill, but his inhibitions were quite lowered at the moment. There was a long moment of silence and Eddie swallowed, thinking he’d messed up.

“But I bet it would piss Hopper off to no end if I showed up to bail the Eddie Munson out of the drunk tank, so I’ll see you in a bit.”

Eddie sputtered and couldn’t believe what was happening. “Wha- huh? I mean, thanks but… you knew?”

“I did. Witnessed enough of your tabletop soliloquies at lunch to recognize your voice. So hold tight. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” Steve warned. Eddie groaned, picturing the exact cocky face he was sure he was pulling.

“Well I have a lot of leeway there then, don’t I, big boy?”

Steve huffed a laugh. “Bye, Eddie.”
