My Day
I really love participating in Chung Chi English Table. Every time I go, I leave with a positive attitude. Honestly, I don't get very many opportunities to speak to local students (Hong Kong or Mainland China). But when I do talk to them at the English Table, everyone is so friendly. It is reassuring to know that everyone comes to practice their English speaking skills so no one has a reason to not talk to you. It's great!

Chung Chi English Table has definitely become a part of my weekly routine. I truly enjoy being able to talk to local students! I have been there enough to the point that the more local students have felt comfortable talking to me. I think what made my last experience even more special was because I was chosen to be the discussion leader. My job was to ensure that most people were just talking (in English lol) and that everyone understood the instructions for the events that were happening. Secondly, I was also chosen to give a 2-minute speech with a group of other students that were chosen. Ultimately, my involvement was higher than usual.
Today, I went to an event called Chung Chi College English Table. The event is to help local students improve their English speaking skills with the help of fluent speaker/native speakers. As a part of the event, a formal dinner is served with reserved seating to ensure there is a 1:2 ratio of native speakers to local students. But before the dinner began, there was an ice breaker event to get everyone more comfortable with speaking. Afterward, as dinner was being served, we were told that today's topic was technology innovation due to the release of the iPhone 6.
Even though dinner was very structured, the conversation in the room was flowing naturally. After a while, no one was talking about technology and people began talking about their personal lives. It was actually really pleasant. And of course the food was great!
