I'm never one to walk away from something on bad terms but as much I want to give this thing '110%' for the next two weeks, I'm equally tempted to light my desk on fire, drop the mic, and peace out. Stupid frontal lobe of a 20-something, why can't you be more developed?

In other news, my snobby summertime obsession, San Pellegrino is back with a vengeance; how I love thee, tiny bubbled, delightfully refreshing Italian mineral water, thank you for being a reliable workplace compatriot.

I used to work as a consultant helping clients navigate the often abyss-like world of regulatory process in hopes of one day maybe, just maybe, building something. I now work on the other side of the coin and it's been an eye opening experience in both enlightenment and frustration like I've never known.

Today I finished a project I had been working on since August. From an engineering side of things, it doesn't get more simple. From a regulatory/legal/IT side however, it was a disaster. This project seemed to unleash the Pandora's box of all things 'exceptions to the rule' and brought to light loopholes none of us knew existed; it was my job to navigate these seemingly uncharted waters. In the same amount of time it took to approve three enormous gas plants, we had not yet approved the construction of a tank and a pipe. 

The clients embarking on this project could not have been more of a pleasure to work with through this onslaught and I can safely say I would not have been nearly as patient/non-crazy had I been in their shoes.

There are days when it seems like nothing gets done, no progress made and no rhyme nor reason to anything we do. However, I believe we all inherently want to do our jobs well and have a common goal of moving forward. The fleeting days when the stars align to make such things happen are the days when I really do love my job. 

So, with only 24 hours to spare in what began as a generous timeline, the little tank and pipe that could are good to go. I dare say, it is also now beer o'clock.
