Ironborn Introvert Duo
One of the funniest things about Westerosi politics in my crossover au (which I'm calling the Children of the Wellspring Verse), is that Euron Greyjoy and Rodrick Harlaw should, by all accounts, be best friends. As kids, they would both awkwardly introvert in the corners of social events, and as adults they both have a healthy skepticism for their fellow Ironborn. They have very similar interests and personalities, the same allies, and the same enemies. They're both at court around the same time, and they both have positions of power there, with Euron being an important lord and Rodrik being master of ships. They both speak multiple languages and use that ability to snark relentlessly about the people around them. And they both like learning things. They're literally family. Rodrik is the only person who's ever guessed that the two birds on Euron's sigil represent his two dead kids. But you can not leave them alone in a room without the room catching fire. These two despise each other so much that it causes problems for everyone else. There is only one person Euron would want to spend time with less, and that's Victarion, who killed his first love. Rodrik keeps publicly insulting Euron. The whole thing is a giant political headache for everyone involved. If they got along, they would be an iconic duo. But they just don't.
