Enea Bossi was an Italian extremely influential in the aviation world. Bossi was only the second licensed pilot in Italy, and he was influenced by the Wright brothers, which led him to model and design his own plane close to the Wright brother’s model. Bossi’s plane was even one of the first Italian-designed airplane to be built. In the year of 1909 Bossi had invented the first landing gear braking system, along with building the first Italian navy seaplane. During World War I, Bossi served as a flight instructor and a bomber pilot for the Italians. In the 20s he was a huge influence in creating devices dealing with refueling systems and later worked on modern aerial refueling systems. Later in Bossi’s life he had helped in the completion of building the Higgins EB-1 Helicopter down in New Orleans. One of Bossi’s most influential developments during his lifetime was for furthering the contra-rotating dual-propellers and tail rotors for helicopters.
