Another question I have but more open ended
So my ward is having some kind of endowment prep class that I've enthusiastically signed up for. What should I expect? Like will it be like seminary/institute where I should probably take notes or more of a Sunday meeting? I assume we'll be learning what can be talked about outside the temple so endowments aren't a surprise but, again, no idea what to expect. I don't even know what endowments are other than:
a requirement to get into the highest levels of the celestial kingdom
only temple recommend carrying adult members 18+ who have graduated high school can get them
people tend to wait until they're sealed to their spouse to get their endowments together. Or have in the past? Idk I was talked out of mine with this as the "reason" cited for waiting
they're required for missionaries of all genders and ages
you learn passwords??? How to recognize good spirits from bad??? Not entirely sure
Eve has a speaking part now whereas she was an object before? Idk I didn't totally understand the news article
how to do them is in the Bible itself so it's actual Scriptural stuff. I THINK. All I remember is my mother saying that everything could be pointed to in the scriptures themselves. She was v vague
as opposed to being baptized and conformed, which is v physically and spiritually invigorating despite being physically straining, endowment sessions last like 4 hours or something and are super draining afterwards even though it's all words for some reason
and then you have to wear garments every single day for the rest of your life that are special ordered from the church and you have to destroy a special way rather than getting rid of them because you can't mend them? Idk I just remember my mother cutting hers up once when I was a teenager and I think she mentioned having to burn them
And I bet a lot of that is way off too for those of you who have your endowments. I just want to know what to expect from the prep class if nothing else. I'm also nervous about the interview questions because while I'M abiding by the law of chastity, pretty sure the church would see that differently. Cause plural marriage being regarded the way it is even though I'm absolutely faithful and keep sexual things within my marriages and am absolutely abiding by the law of chastity. Like I'm worried that even though I can answer those questions without reservation (unlike as a teenager) I'll be regarded as a liar and living in sin
When like I'm not. My biggest sins right now are wrath and not being the best partner, not reading scriptures every day, and so on that we all struggle with. But I'm constantly trying to get better and improve wherever I can. I've quit drinking, quit smoking, and I've been trying to slowly improve my diet as part of anorexia recovery. Like I'm so much more faithful, both actively as a verb and also the regular noun, than I ever was as a teenager and I was still let in the temple
Anyway, I got off on a tangent. Anybody able to let me know what to expect?
