Final Reflection 3rd semester
In this semester I learned a lot of things, I consider I really improved my essay writing. Even though it was the last class every day I looked forward to it every day as it is an exciting class that was not as exhausting as I thought. At the beginning I was very nervous that I would not be able to read everything that we were required to, or that it would be a very complicated class, however, I found out there were very considerable due dates with enough time to turn in assignments. In the class, I think that something interesting that I reflected on was, on what is considered to be literature and how we can explore visual texts like movies, series, and mangas, through a literary perspective, as it is possible to analyze every shot, lightning, camera movement, angle, and even every sound. One aspect that I enjoyed about the class was hearing others perspectives both my classmates and teacher, through the class discussions it was interesting to hear what they thought on the subject, as even though we read the same texts everyone interprets them differently, I did not participate as much as I would like to as sometimes I am shy, but I hope that next semester I’ll improve in this aspect. I also enjoyed the peer review as it helped me see my classmate’s essays to identify things that could be improved and therefore I could also identify how my essay was looking. I believe the class helped me create relations between literary work and the meaning the author was conveying and how it relates to our everyday lives, and develop a more critical understanding of very different kinds of texts. I hope to continue learning many new things and improving every day.
