Before her marriage to the Shah in 1959, the highest women at court was Reza’s twin sister, Princess Ashraf. Princess Ashraf came to see Farah as a rival. It was the rivalry with Princess Ashraf that led Farah to press her husband into reducing her influence at the Court. Farah’s significance was exemplified by her part in the 1967 Coronation Ceremonies, where she was crowned as the first shahbanu (empress) of modern Iran. It was again confirmed when the Shah named her as the official regent should he die or be incapacitated before the Crown Prince's 21st birthday. The naming of a woman as regent was highly unusual for a Middle Eastern or Muslim monarchy.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The great wealth generated by Iran's oil encouraged a sense of Iranian nationalism at the Imperial Court. The Empress Farah recalled of her days as a university student in 1950s France about being asked where she was from: “When I told them Iran ... the Europeans would recoil in horror as if Iranians were barbarians and loathsome. But after Iran became wealthy under the Shah in the 1970s, Iranians were courted everywhere. Yes, Your Majesty. Of course, Your Majesty. If you please, Your Majesty. Fawning all over us. در نسخه جدید ووگ عربی مصاحبه‌ای با اعلیحضرت شهبانو فرح پهلوی ترتیب داده شده بمناسبت رونمایی جدیدترین کتاب ایشان باعنوان "ایران مدرن - شهبانوی هنر" که تقریبن یک ماه از انتشارش می‌گذرد. موزه هنرهای معاصر؛ بذری که فرح پهلوی 'با عشق کاشت'  چهل سال بعد از انقلابی که سرنوشت این موزه را عوض کرد و بسیاری از آثار خریداری شده برای آن را، از پیکاسو گرفته تا اندی وارهال، روانه انبارهای این موزه کرد، هزاران کیلومتر دورتر از آن، بار دیگر گنجینه نهفته در این موزه خبرساز شده است: کتابی قطور منتشر شده از آثار موجود در این موزه و قصه های دور و برش. نام کتاب را با نام اصلی‌ترین پشتیبانش، شهبانو فرح پهلوی، گره زده‌اند: ایران مدرن، ملکه هنر.  در گنجینه دائمی موزه، بیش از سه هزار اثر ارزشمند از نخبگان هنرهای تجسمی نگهداری می شود که نزدیک به چهارصد اثر، ارزش های استثنائی دارند. از جمله آثار مهم موزه می توان به جاکومتی، ولویت، اندی وارهول، پولاک، ارنست، پولاک، لویت و پیکاسو اشاره کرد. میانگین قیمت برخی از این آثار هنری تا پنج میلیارد دلار هم قیمت گذاری شده، در صورتی که با قیمت بسیار پایین تر برای موزه خریداری شده اند.  شهبانو فرح، درباره ایده پیدایش موزه می‌گوید: ما نمی‌توانستیم همه آثار مهم هنر ایران را که در موزه ها یا کلکیسیون های بین المللی نگهداری می‌شدند برای ایران بخریم اما تصمیم گرفتیم آثار هنر مدرن و برخی آثار کلاسیک هنر بین‌المللی را برای موزه بگیریم.  جلد کتاب تازه، پرتره‌ایست از فرح پهلوی که اندی وارهال، پدر هنر پاپ، در سفرش به ایران از او ساخته و پرداخته است. @shahbanou_farah_pahlavi  One of my favorite stories of the new issue. Empress Farah's favorite Tiara Designed by Harry Winston! Designed for the occasion of the marriage of Empress Farah and Reza Shah Pahlevi in Iran in 1958.  The tiara is platinum set with precious gems. The lower band contains diamonds shaped like a heart. There are two rows of yellow, pink and colorless diamonds on top of it. Above that are seven large emeralds framed by diamonds.  The largest emerald, located in the center of the top row, is 65 cts. and the smallest ones on the ends of the row are 10 cts. each. The two largest diamonds are approximately 15 cts. each.  The Tiara is part of the Treasury of National Iranian Jewels.
