Can someone share their secret with me of how they control their emotions daily?
Children learn how to control their emotions and react to situations through social interactions. This happens with both adults and children. Help them understand and control their feelings through interaction.
Bete Itu Pilihan
Around a year ago gue masih suka banget bete karena hal-hal sepele. Kaya didesek sm ibu-ibu pas lagi naik kereta, ga dikasih lewat pas mau keluar kereta, naik taksi tapi supirnya ga tau jalan dan malah nyasar dan hal-hal super ga penting lainnya. Dulu gue bisa dengan gampangnya swing mood ke level maha bete, sebel, kesel, dsb.
Dalam kurun waktu 8 bulan terakhir I met a therapist, dia anak psikologi Binus dan bersedia memberikan konsultasi secara cuma-cuma. Dan gue disarankan untuk melakukan beberapa step untuk menghindarkan gue dari mood swing, yaitu:
1. Identify your emotion Awal nyobain hal ini agak kagok juga sih. Soalnya aneh aja pas kita mau kesel kita harus mengidentifikasi, kenapa gue kesel, apa yang bikin gue kesel, penting ga sih perasaan kesel ini, bla bla bla. Tapi efeknya langsung kerasa deh, begitu gue menerapkan hal ini sekarang gue kalo mau menggerutu jadi mikir, what for? Gue akhirnya mengalihkan emosi gue ke hal lain kaya menulis, menyanyi, ngerjain skripsi, gambar,dsb.
2. 7/11 breathing method Teknik ini gue pakai kalo gue ngerasa gue udah ga kuat banget dan pengen marah. Caranya kedua telapak tangan membentuk posisi menggenggam (kalo ada stress ball smbl meremas stress ball) sambil menarik nafas dan berhitung dalam hati 1-7 terus buang nafas dihitungan 8-11. Pas lagi gini usahakan tutup mata atau nunduk dan isi pikiran dengan hal yang bikin gembira seperti senyuman, keluarga, pelukan ibu, bintang jatuh, pelangi, es milo, cotton candy, etc.
Awalnya pas gue diajarin ini gue mikir, okay well whatever! Hahaha… Ternyata pas gue praktekin asli jadi lebih tenang. Gue emang bukan tipe orang yang religius banget dimana kalo gue marah bakal bilang astagfirullah atau berzikir dalam hati. Tapi ini bisa dibilang metode yang paling mendekati ademnya hati dan pikiran saat kita berdzikir.
Intinya sih dari segala teknik pengelolaan emosi itu, kita harus mengerti bahwa we are the master of our mind. Jangan biarkan emosi menguasai kita, justru kita yang harus bisa menakhlukkan emosi.
Banyak-banyak lah berpikir positif, berlaku positif dan berkata positif karena itu super membantu supaya kita bisa meminimalisir potensi bete-bete yang ga perlu. Anyway, life’s too short to spend with whinning and complaining. Be grateful :)
