In a hypothetical scenario where Aster and Sycamore didn't abandon The King and he won the war, how would the hierarchy work? Who would be the next king—Lain or Aster?
And would both of them make good kings? Would Lain continue to serve as a chamberlain, but for Aster?
in regards to the monarchy system—yes it's a monarchy because there's one guy at the head of everything (and his name is literally The King). However, I do not think he thought ahead enough to know how inheritance and lineage would work. All that mattered to him in the moment is that he was at the top.
Even if he had won and his system hadn't collapsed under him—I do not think the king would make either of his children the next king. He would likely just have another general take his spot. Neither Lain nor Aster would make very good leaders. I do not know where Lain would end up if someone else took the place of leader. Probably nowhere good.

I have a few questions... (I'm using a translator, so sorry if some things aren't clear ;-;)
1- In the war, did Canary kill anyone? Or did she not have time and Lain killed her right at the beginning? (Honestly, I can't imagine Canary killing anyone, she's so sweet :c)
2- Can Mariner fight/defend himself, or is he so peaceful that he doesn't even know how to fight?
3- I saw something about Condor that said he only obeys Crane, so... if she happens to die? What would be the reaction of the great feline assassin? Would he lose control? Would he be devastated or would he simply ignore her and start killing anyone like before joining the Flock?
(I'd also like to say that your art is beautiful and has been a great inspiration to me! Keep shining!)
Yes, Canary did kill people. She was a soldier like everyone else. She didn't kill many simply bc she wasn't in many battles. By the time she was fighting alongside the flock it was very close to the end of the war (the battle she died in was around a week before the end, as implied on page 47)
2. Mariner can fight, just not very well and not unless he's defending himself. He's probably the second weakest fighter in the cast, right above Warbler who is not fully grown.
3. Condor would be devastated by Crane's death and likely do everything in his power to get revenge on what/who killed her. If she died by disease or something else not caused directly by another person, I don't think he would know what to do with himself. He would likely still try to live by the rules Crane had given him while she was alive, but it'd be a lot harder to resist temptation when there wouldn't be someone there to tell him "no"
