‘This place is real screwed up...’ he thought to himself. A poor girl, left by herself, in such rough condition, too. Someone must’ve abandoned her and it really made his heart sore. He bends down to become more level with her, but with his size versus hers, it’s hardly a difference. 

Perhaps it would be respectful to call this a battlefield; some bodies strewn about lie still with fingers clutching weapons, some bright, some dull, all useless now that their owners are dead. Realistically speaking, however, it resembles more of something far less, something that echoes more of massacre than it does battle. 

It’s an unfortunate sight, but it’s also the most human thing he’s seen upon his arrival in Hive City.

This host was small. Dirty. Broken.  As Visi previously observed, filthy items that had been damaged and torn to shreds were often clumped together in bins. To fester, to convert to slime, to stink and offend. The host did this often -- Waste all, save not. A curious action, one that was baffling but duplicated by her own hands. But did they do this to their own people? Even with the smaller hosts? 

... Was this girl garbage? There was no one to answer her questions or provide more questions for her questions; she could only rely on what she knew: This host was alone. This host had legs. No matter the quality, this was a moment to take what she need. All she needed to do was get her into her alleyway. And her method was simple: At the entrance, was a doll on a string, its arm ripped off and with a note attached. In rough looking text, one word was scrawled.

Normally, the King had no need for reading. He had Escargoon do it. Reading was a waste of time that could be spent doing kingly activities. It was something the peasants did for entertainment, because they didn't understand the finer entertainments that Dedede enjoyed. Also, Dedede didn't actually know how to read, but the majority of Hive didn't need to know that.

However, since Escargoon was not here, the penguin needed some way to understand what was on the signs. Without the ability to read, King Dedede couldn't navigate the massive amount of streets, he couldn't order food, and most of all, people wouldn't let him rule without him being able to read! Dedede needed to learn how to read fast.

He found the nearest, most Cappy-looking person he could find and tapped them on the back.
