So I stared gaining weight. I know, a billion stories, but when I started gaining weight I hadnât changed anything in my lifestyle. I exercised everyday, extra on dance days, I ate pretty healthy, drank water, avoided soda, ect. I naturally assumed that the weight I put on was due to stress, I was, after all, in the midst of planning a wedding, working, and going to school full time. However, the wedding came and went and I was faced with a summer of little stress and a pretty simple, easy time. And yet I still carried extra weight, even gained a little more. I decided it was that weight that it seems all newlyweds put on so I spent more time in the gym, I took up road biking, and I made sure that my husband and I were eating well. Then came school. I was still over weight and couldnât seem to lose the pounds. Despite having a rigorous ballet class every morning plus dancing for 4.5 hours each day, the pounds stayed stuck. It frustrates me so much! Frustrated and full of body shaming thoughts I casually mentioned my weight gain to my mom. Her response? âEmily, you did realize this was a side effect of birth control, right?â Stupid me. My weight gain happened soon after getting birth control and continued to climb until it seemed to hit a plateau. According to my doctor the amount I gained is natural, even a little less then the norm. Good to know that the fact that I canât lose this weight, no matter what, isnât because of me. Itâs because my bodyâs natural balance has changed for a little bit.
