Welcome to the second Baju’s StarTrek Embrodiery project update: There’s colors on the ground now! :D
Yeah so this took ages for very little progress. Especially the white. Those white splotches took so goddamn long, I can’t even explain it. But they should be done now.
Another fun fact in my original color picking stage, I only had one black, but when I started embroidering I decided that I want some variety. But, finding vaguely black embroidery floss is harder than I anticipated so the two accent greys are just normal sowing thread that I use two strands of so it’s the same thickness as a single strands of normal embroidery floss. It works surprisingly well actually! (Tho I doubt the two greys are actually that visible in the photo lol)
I do also have some dark browns for the big mountain, which I am interested in seeing how well they work, but that will come later.
The next step, one that I should do but will probably procrastinate doing, is start on the yellows on the ground. This, is the big step, so I’m scared to actually start it. (So don’t be surprised if my next update is about how I started on the sky XD)
Now, onto my worries: I know I literally just bought more shades of grey and brown but I’m a little agarose the final result will be a bit too colourful and won’t look consistent. It… hasn’t happened yet, I don’t think…. But also a big portion of the thing is still missing. I don’t really know what do to with this other than be a bit more deliberate with the colors I am using.
In other news, I’m going on a vacation starting tomorrow, so maybe I’ll have more time for this project so maybe hopefully I’ll have a new update on this soon-ish :)
And one more thing, already, this project has such a good hand feel!! I loved my Jayvik embroidery for that exact reason because the big portion of just embroidery feels so nice and soft! And I can’t wait for this entire fabric to be just converted in thread! :D
Anyways, highlights:
I really like this black border between the purple and white but here! It just makes me happy!
And here, you might be able to see the black and at least one of the twi greys around it XD I think the red makes it look almost like lava peaking out of a crack in some rock which isn’t exactly what I was going for but looks cool nonetheles!
