The picture on the left popped up on my photo memories from this day in 2020 and some days I can’t believe I finally got to my goal weight.
I’ve heard so many versions of “Wow I can’t believe it took you 6 years” but the time will pass anyways and every present and future version of myself thanks the version of me on the left for being brave enough to start somewhere.
I made the changes, I put in the hard work. It’s not genetics or luck or anything passive, it was a lot of effort and determination that got me here.
If you want to write off your efforts as meaningless, remember that it’s the little changes and the small habits that you do every day that lead to you reaching your goal. It’s not completely cutting out sugar or going on a fad diet or anything insane, it’s making sustainable changes to your lifestyle that you can maintain once you get to where you want to be.
It’s long walks and lifting weights and lots of water and learning how to recreate your favorite recipes and sitting with your feelings and discovering why you want it and loving yourself enough to make the changes to be the healthiest you.
