Cute little thing I noticed:
At the end of TLM1, during the scene where Batman and Lucy break it off. Batman gestures to Emmet saying that “He’s the hero you deserve.”
I noticed that Emmet turns around and looks behind himself, wondering if Batman was talking about someone else.
It may just be because he’s naive, but I believe that in this moment Emmet truely believed that he really wasn’t a hero, nor be the kind of person that Lucy deserves, despite all the noble things he had just done.
To which Lucy turns his head to face her as in saying “Yeah, he meant you, ya dingus.”
This was supposed to be finished and published on Valentines day, but as you can tell i was just a l i t t l e late. Whoops! This was a redraw of this from 2019 (shutter): https://www.deviantart.com/alphaareus/art/See-Ya-Later-Alligator-822151209 Emmet and Lucy are hands down my favourite heterosexual couple in any media ever. The way they interact, especially in the second movie, is super wholesome and adorable. This scene from the first film in particular, is one of my favourites. They both have a raw, unflinchingly honest moment with each other where they open up about their biggest insecurities. Lucy reveals her real name and explains why she was frustrated with him in the beginning, and Emmet reveals why he first lied about knowing the prophecy, and how he had never really felt respected or noticed beforehand. This moment is actually incredibly well made, since it makes clear on how the two are sort of the same through their drive to prove themselves to others. (I actually included Batman in this redraw because he was present during this exact moment that i drew. For some reason i forgot that in my 2019 sketch) (Emmet, Lucy & Batman © Warner Bros)

Emmet: [nudges Lucy awake]
Lucy: What’s wrong?
Emmet: Hey, do you like me?
Lucy: Ems, I married you.
Emmet: Yes, but did you marry me as a friend or, like, a partner? Unclear.
[ordering cake over the phone]
“And what would you like the cake to say?”
Emmet: [covers phone to ask Lucy]
Emmet: Do we want a talking cake?
Lucy: I’m into dark humour.
Emmet (turns off lights): Would you like to hear a joke?
Lucy: I love you.
