Jack jerked back as if he'd been slapped.  His eyes flickered from side to side, searching for anything to focus on that wasn't Elsa.  And he'd never meant to and he'd never meant to have been caught.  "Were you really asleep then?" he countered, trying to deflect the issue entirely.
But not even Jack would let himself do that, because he'd never really thought about it before. Â He'd never really stopped to consider that people might not like that.
"Bad habit, I guess," he admitted with a faint shrug, trying to pretend he hadn't been as upset to be caught as he had been. Â "But people can't usually see me even when they're awake, so then...you're just like everyone else when you're asleep."

As Esmeralda kicked wildly against the guard, her face that had been concentrated in pure determination, twisted into satisfaction as the guard in front of her howled with pain. At the noise the guard pinning her from the back loosened his grip in surprise, giving her the split second to run. As she heard the shouts from behind her she let out a slight laugh, knowing Djali was safe and hiding behind one of the small walls as she ran off, knowing theyâd meet back up at their tent. She winced as her bare foot hit against a sharp rock, but she kept running, hearing the shouts behind her.Â
