There are countries that I really like and there are countries that I LOVE. Sri Lanka falls under the latter. Even in monsoon season, the weather made everything seem more ethereal and magical. And the PEOPLE! The people of Sri Lanka are beyond kind; constantly acknowledging your presence by offering a smile or a simple head nod, teaching me card games on a moving train, creating a space that made me feel like I was part of their home... the list is endless. I remember the day after the Canadian elections had ended, locals would ask me where I’m from and when they heard Canada, they immediately shook my hand and congratulated me on our democratic results. It’s the little things 😭💕 • Travelling to Sri Lanka was a spur of the moment decision. The country was out of my route, further and more costly to get to, but it was the best. damn. decision. 🙏 If you are reading this and needed a sign, this is it. Whatever it is, take a leap of faith. • 📸: Thank you to the kind stranger who took this picture. @shadmeeg your photography skills are👌🏾 || edited by me.
