Reflecting on the past guide season. At the close of the year, I like to think back on the adventures had and the experiences gained. I still guide because there is just something about the challenge that I love. The most rewarding part for me is when I get to be a part of someone's first elk hunt. To share what I have grown up doing with someone who has grown up dreaming of chasing elk out west. Through the struggles of finding a bull, to hiking countless miles through the snow, or building a fire in the middle of nowhere just to keep warm. The grueling aspect of the pack-out to the tireless times when you have to push not only yourself but those who may be experiencing this kind of hunt for the first time. It is all part of what I like to refer to as the guide life, and it is a life that I am extremely grateful for.
