Maybe they were on a honeymoon?

Eli and Pierce: *walk in through the front door, dragging suitcases with all manner of travel stickers all over them*

TTB: Oh wow, where were you two, I’ve barely seen you around in my brain in ages! I was starting to wonder if I might ever see you agai-- is that a ring?

Eli: Yes, we just got back from our honeymoon.

TTB: Whoa, wait, you’re both married now? When did this happen??

Eli: Well, you were feeding us a really shitty plot about how the Presidency and SRIV were really stressing me out and how Pierce and I were drifting apart and shit and so we decided to elope instead. The honeymoon was great by the way, I hope you at least got my postcards?

TTB: Was that what those random flashes of images and inspiration every other month or so were about?

Eli: I guess so? Wait, so you honestly didn’t even question us being gone for so long?

TTB: I... thought you were just sulking on your own...?

And yet somehow the two of them don’t like each other well. Or rather, Pierce can’t help but feel jealous of Eli and Matt getting along so well while he is pushed away, and Matt wonders if he’ll ever have any chance with Eli and if/how Pierce might somehow affect the outcome.

After the Saints had taken over Ultor and were starting to gain fame, Eli really encouraged Pierce to pursue his music and advertising career. He knew it had always been Pierce's dream to make something more of himself than just being a gangbanger, and after Jack's leadership of the Saints had lead to many deaths (culminating with her own), Eli was more than happy to steer the Saints toward more 'legitimate' ventures.

Eli had never broken a bone before, yet here he was, his back against a brick wall, gingerly clutching his right arm and biting his lower lip until he could taste blood.

At Pierce's worried question, he tried to force on a grin, though it ended up looking more like a grimace as he rasped, "Ah, it's not so bad, I mean I could have ended up like the other guy; though I don't suppose a kiss to make it better is gonna work on me this time."

TTB: Last night I had a vivid thought of a drunk Eli. Now a properly plastered Eli is a rare sight, even though he’s a complete lightweight when it comes to liquor. But I guess there might have been a Saints celebration going on and people kept slipping him drinks, so this night he was getting pretty hammered. This also meant that his inhibitions were way lowered. Pierce arrived late to the party and was more sober, so he wasn’t sure what to make of a) seeing Eli unusually drunk, b) said drunk Boss getting way more physical than usual and practically crawling into his lap, and c) said drunk and heavy Eli in his lap giving him boozy doe-eyes, trying to kiss him in public (and somehow failing) and giggling like an idiot. Pierce is torn between getting equally drunk so that at least he wouldn’t feel so awkward, or staying sober-ish to keep an eye on Eli because the Boss was acting unpredictably.

The next morning they wake up at Pierce’s place (it had been closer and Eli had fallen asleep the millisecond his head hit the pillow), Eli has a huuuge hangover (Pierce brings him some water) and grumbles that Pierce really ought to try stopping him the next time he might try something so foolish again. Pierce just smirks and tells him that Eli better learn to think for himself because Pierce can’t be around to do it for him all the time.

M: Drunk Eli.. Me likey *insert drooly face*

TTB: Basically all of SR4 had happened so that Meryl and Colin were still together in the same world (this part is canon). Anyway bla bla bla the whole game happens, and in the end they discover time travel and (AU stuff starts here) go back in time to warn the world about Zinyak's invasion so they could prepare for it. Among others they also visit their younger selves.

Post-SR3 Meryl and Colin aren't all too shocked to see them (if there were parallel dimensions already, then time travel? Eh, why the fuck not). Anyway the future-Bosses explain that their Earth had been blown up, but that there was hope that it wouldn't happen for the younger ones. But the SR4 Saints won't be staying to live in the past, and instead will start exploring the galactic Empire they had "inherited" from Zinyak.

SR3 Colin: "Wait, you guys have space-ships, time travel and an intergalactic empire? And if we follow your directions, then we don't get to have any of those? :("

SR4 Colin: "So you'd rather that Earth and everyone on it, everything you love, gets blown up instead?"

SR3 Colin: "...No? :c"

SR4 Colin: "Good. Also there's no guarantee that everything goes smooth for us either. We might pop up again five minutes into your future to tell you that we’ve completely cocked up."

Anyway the future-Bosses start to leave, but Meryl wants to tell her past self something and a quick whispered argument between her and future-Colin breaks out.

"Oh c'mon, Colin...!"

"They don't need to know it yet, love. Let them figure things out on their own."

"I won't rush them, just hopefully give them some encouragement."

Eventually Meryl wins out and whispers something short into her younger self's ear. SR4 Meryl grins and SR3 Meryl gets an expression of spaced-out surprise and disbelief. The future selves then leave back to their own timeline. Colin asks Meryl what she'd been told, but she just smiles gently, leans her head on his shoulder and stays quiet for a while. When Colin's pretty much resigned himself to not knowing her secret, she says with soft laugh, "She just told me to always treat my future husband with care." Colin is confused for a moment, but then realization dawns on him. 

They're both silent and lost deep in their thoughts for some time, until Colin accidentally mutters "I do." out loud to himself.

"Huh?"

"Oh, uh, I meant, uh, I do... hope she's happy with... whoever he is..."

She smirks and looks him in the eye. "Then I guess I do too... hope she's happy with whoever he is."

They both start blushing a lot and have to look away, their expressions a kaleidoscope of awkwardness, hope, happiness and embarrassment.

*all four gather around me*

Meryl: "Um, the hell are you doing?"

Colin: "We're not getting married, love."

Pierce: "This is weirding me out."

Eli: *just blushes out of embarrassment and shakes his head*
