Clan Hunt Elite Marks
Sometimes I get a little annoyed at the adventurers who’re looking for rank B mark. Mind you, I’m not annoyed that people shout to ask for the mob. The maps are vast, and sometimes even after searching for 30 minutes, it is possible to still can’t find it. I know how difficult it could be to find a single mob in such a vast place, so I feel compelled to help people whenever I see such shout, especially if they’re polite in their request.
I like to be helpful, and I try to report every rank B I find or happen upon. Sometimes I would even go out of my way to check a spawn spot or two when someone shouts to ask for it and if I’m near any spot. Spending just 30 seconds or 1 minute of my time in flying over to take a peek wouldn’t hurt. I usually do that if the person asked for the pos in shout a second time or third time after 10 minutes or longer.Â
One time in Azys Lla, I was AFK waiting for Adamantite nodes to pop every 35 minutes and saw this one person who shouted for Omni once every 15 minutes for 4 times. I was like holy shit.....they’ve been at it for an hour already! I felt very sorry for the person and headed out to help them search. It boggles to think that one has to spend an hour looking for the damn mob that could be hiding in a weird place or most unexpected spot. So, yeah, I try to lend a hand whenever I see people ask for rank B.
What annoys me a little is when people don’t even spend 1 minute to look around, but instead shout for the pos immediately, as soon as they zone into the map. How do I know that people do this? Well, sometimes I had just shouted the spot, and 5 seconds later someone would ask for that very same mob.
That means the person who asked wasn’t in the map when I reported the pos. So yeah.... No effort in looking at all. Worse yet, some hunters are far more lazy than that, they don’t even take time to name or indicate which of the 2 rank B mobs they wanted. They would just ask “anyone seen rank b?” and it would piss me off.Â
What do I do when I’m pissed off in that situation? If I’m so annoyed that I didn’t want to spend my time talking to the person, I just ignore their question and never go out of my way to scout for the mob. But if I feel argumentative, or if I’m in the mood to check whether the person would reply nicely or not, I would reply “Which one do you need? There are 2 rank B mobs here.” If they responds with the name or the type of mob (like, “gorilla” or “monkey” or “scorpion”) I help them by telling them the pos I’ve seen the others shout or go scout the places I know of. If they don’t reply nicely, I ignore them.
If, however, I am in a hurry or am just busy, I will just give them the link to my marked map. ( http://alechoney.tumblr.com/post/129768120305/monsters-location-maps-rank-b-clan-hunt ) Most people I’ve given the links to were happy with the maps and thanked me. Some even sent tells to ask for more detail or for other maps. Some kept saying thanks over and over.
One weird person, however, politely decline the use of my map, saying (exact quote) “Ty but i'l stil looking at him “normal way” maybe someone will get him :P”  I wouldn’t say the person was weird if it wasn’t because he or she kept shouting to ask for the rank B pos EVERY 3 minutes, and continued to shout again, over and over, every 3 minutes after declining my map.
I know some people prefer the challenge and want to play their game without external resource or “cheat sheet” but....for me, the “normal way” or “conventional way” would be searching for it manually without shouting to ask anyone. Which is what I always do in the beginning. I don’t shout to ask for the pos unless I’ve checked all the spots I know and still cannot find it.Â
Asking around has some advantages. First, other hunters who might be looking for the same mob will be aware of you and will, if they are nice enough, shout the pos to let you know instead of killing it silently. People not killing it silently means there is less chance that the mob will respawn where you’ve already checked (when someone kill it without anyone knowing, it could cause you to keep missing it for the next 30 mins because you thought it wasn’t there so it won’t be there, and didn’t think you should look in that spot until you already cycle through all the other spots).
Secondly, joining effort with one more hunter who’re also looking for the same mob means you have 1 more scout. This will make it easier for both of you. Thirdly, if other people who have no business with the mob happen to see it, they will shout to let you know, and thus reduce the time and effort needed in finding its location.
But to shout every 1 minute (or every 3 minutes) is a bit too much and seem lazy to me. And that shouldn’t be considered “normal.”Â
