Once again we return to my childhood and look at fantasy novels and the themes within.  And while Lord of the Rings if the classical image of fantasy, I think for most fantasy fans, Shannara, which is more arch typical with over 20 books with a more serial style.  So what makes this series attractive even going back years later, which is some pretty nice imagery, some evocative villains, and good world building.  So what doesn’t work?  Listen and find out.  

I’ve been watching The Shannara Chronicles on Netflix and so far I’m not sure what I think of it, but I’m sticking around for Austin Butler’s Wil and his positively hilarious cynical commentary.
