Rating some shifting methods I’ve tried
I thought I would make a small post talking about some of the shifting methods that I have tried and what I thought about them. I won't go into detail about how each of these work, but if you’d like me to explain each of them, please let me know and I will make a separate post talking about it.
It is important to remember that these are all obviously my personal opinions on them and they’re all based on personal experiences, just because they didn’t work for me, does not mean they can’t work for you!
Train method:
Visualizing myself in a train was very simple and super relaxing, I didn’t feel distracted by having to visualize the train at all and it made it super easy to visualize what I was actually planning on visualizing in the first place.
Visualizing one thing and then another felt super smooth and easy, my only trouble with this method is that I’m not too sure I’ve gotten the hang of it yet and it would be really hard for me to tell if I’ve shifted or not.
Elevator method:
Honestly, my least favorite method so far, I had a really hard time concentrating and trying to visualize my DR. Part of the reason why I had such a hard time visualizing my DR was because visualizing myself in an elevator (the doors opening and closing, traveling from one floor to another) was way too distracting and really took me away from the moment and what I was actually meant to be visualizing.
It felt too stiff, and I feel like all of these harsh cuts between each floor it would make it very difficult for me to tell wether I have shifted or not. It wasn’t for me at all.
Alice in Wonderland method:
I haven’t seen many people talking about this one, which seems weird to me because it honestly was much easier and natural for me to visualize than the other two.
I didn’t have to pay too much attention to visualize my surroundings, my only focus on the character ahead, so it wasn’t half as distracting as the Elevator method, which made it a lot more relaxing and once I started falling it was just very straightforward and I feel like at this point it would be much easier to realize wether you have shifted or not, unlike in the Train and Elevator methods, where I feel like I’d have a harder time telling if I have shifted or not.
Sunni method:
Hate to sound basic but the Sunni method has so far worked the best for me, it’s very simple and to the point. It’s so easy to prepare for and I feel like it’s much more flexible when it comes to what scenes you can visualize and still make the transition feel smooth and natural, and it would make it so much easier to tell wether you’ve shifted or not.
It is worth mentioning that when it comes to all of these, I don’t just lay down and get straight to visualizing, I usually do a combination of them with the Raven method, where before you start visualizing, you count down from 100 to 0 while making affirmations. I did this in hopes of making the transition a little bit easier, and for me personally, it did, so it is something I do recommend you try if you feel like closing your eyes and just visualizing makes you feel a bit stiff.
I’ve tried to stick to some of the most common ones that I’ve seen, but mostly ended up doing some sort of combination of them, but so far the one that has seemed to yield the best results for me has been the Sunni method, and it is definitely the one I recommend the most.
