back in my inquisition feels and missing my best girl Eleri so have some details:
- she’s in her late thirties
- she was a spy/lookout for her clan; she moves like a silent shadow
- this is made all the more ironic when she decides to become a tempest fighter; she chooses to specialize in it because she already has experience in assassinations and is a moderate artificer herself. early on she is garbage at it, but eventually gets used to smashing elements on her body and becoming a whirlwind of fiery or icy blades. bottled lightning is her absolute favorite
- she always wanted to see the world but also wanted to do her duty to her clan; volunteered for the Conclave mission since that seemed like the most intriguing way to get involved. she was an outlier even among her people, and didn’t have many close friends among them; her one childhood friend died of darkspawn corruption
- does believe in the elven pantheon and was known as a protector for the clan, so took Mythal’s vallaslin at age 25
- she loves history, not just elven, but human and dwarven and even Qunari. she’s a giant nerd who spends a lot of time in the Skyhold library in an attempt to “catch up” with her advisors and be worthy of the inquisitor title (not just because a certain other nerdy elf also resides there)
- she gets along fairly well with most people, since she is gracious and well-mannered, but has very few close friends. the only one to truly bring down her walls is Dorian - they trade books and try to out-quip each other over wine. she also is fascinated by magic, even having none of her own, so enjoys his tales of Minrathous and Qarinus
- early on, she expresses to Solas how interested she is in magic, and he tries to help her to manifest her own on multiple occasions; but nothing ever materializes. she is disappointed each time, but in an attempt to cheer her up after one session they switch to practicing Orlesian to help her prepare for the Winter Palace. she picks it up easily and even quicker than he does, so they switch to Antivan. she outpaces him there as well and it becomes a game of wits. some days he will greet her in Qunlat, and she will respond in ancient Tevene. flirting happens in every language, but bedroom talk is all Elven.
- she is more afraid than she will admit that history will be unkind to her, particularly human history. this only increases after learning of the last Inquisition and inquisitor.
- she loves tea. it is one of the only areas where she and Solas bitterly disagree. the other significant area is discussions on whether wearing a silly-looking accessory to a party because it has historical context that essentially gives nobility the middle finger (but comes with no guarantee they will make that connection, she argues) punishes you or them more.
