"Mother," he said, "may I present the Lady Sybell, the wife of Lord Gawen Westerling of the Crag." The older woman came forward with solemn mien. "Her husband was one of those we took captive in the Whispering Wood."

Westerling, yes, Catelyn thought. Their banner is six seashells, white on sand. A minor house sworn to the Lannisters.

Robb beckoned the other strangers forward, each in turn. "Ser Rolph Spicer, Lady Sybell's brother. He was castellan at the Crag when we took it." The pepperpot knight inclined his head. (...) "The children of Lord Gawen and Lady Sybell. Ser Raynald Westerling." The seashell knight smiled beneath a bushy mustache. (...) "Elenya." The little girl did a quick curtsy. "Rollam Westerling, my squire." The boy started to kneel, saw no one else was kneeling, and bowed instead. (...)

The maid came forward last, and very shy. Robb took her hand. "Mother," he said, "I have the great honor to present you the Lady Jeyne Westerling. Lord Gawen's elder daughter, and my...ah...my lady wife."

⤷ The Sun and The Tide:

Y/n is the sun, not because she’s loud or radiant in an overwhelming way- but because she naturally becomes the center of people’s emotional gravity. People orbit her, warm themselves beside her, measure their days by her mood.

And Elenya is the tide, pulled by her constantly, helplessly, naturally. Not dramatic but quietly, inevitably devoted.

The tide does not choose the moon or the sun, it simply moves because of them.

⤷ Stage One — The Assignment:

Elenya was twelve but old enough to understand class difference, young enough to still hope affection can overcome it. When assigned to y/n, she expects:

- A spoiled Princess

- A cruel lion cub

- Another noble girl who’ll forget her name in a week

Instead she finds: A dreamy ten-year-old, all soft gold curls and curious eyes, asking if Elenya likes lemon cakes before asking her Surname.

That changes everything immediately, because y/n does something dangerous: She treats Elenya like a person. Not a object, not furniture, not “the bastard girl”

And for Elenya that kindness becomes life-altering

⤷. Their Intimacy is Built through Rountine:

Their relationship isn’t built through grand declarations, it’s built through daily closeness.

Elenya: Brushes her hair, laces her gowns, sleeps in the same chambers, knows what perfume she prefers, knows when she’s lying and etc.

And that creates an intimacy deeper than romance sometimes because Elenya witnesses: y/n before court masks, before political smiles, before she becomes “Lady Stark”.

She knows how stubborn she gets when sleepy, how he pouts, how she talks to her cat.

That’s not courtly admiration anymore, that’s devotion formed through proximity

And because of this other Noble girls were jealous because Elenya — a bastard -born complain had something non of them could access :

Y/n’a genuine affection.

The royal girls see:

Y/n laughing harder with Elenya than with them, sharing secrets with her, choosing her company voluntarily, reaching for her hand first,

And that drove the court girls INSANE. Especially because y/n is the girl of the court:

Beautiful, royal , charming, desired by every future lord

And yet her favorite person is some quiet bastard girl from a minor branch. And that’s humiliating for highborn ladies who spent years trying to impress her. And that makes Elenya socially threatening without meaning to not because she has power but because she has access.

⤷ Elenya’s Tragedy

Elenya stops imagining a future separate from y/n, not consciously but psychologically:

Her routines revolve around her, her happiness revolves around her, her purpose revolves around her. She becomes emotionally anchored to y/n without realizing it, and y/n encourages this unintentionally because she’s affectionate by nature. She says things like : “ You’ll always stay with me, won’t you?”

Because to y/n, it’s comforting but to Elenya it’s becomes sacred.

Then winterfell happens:

The royal party are headed to winterfell with visit it and all. So when y/n leaves, she’ll thinking: “I’ll come back”

But Elenya feels something wrong immediately, not logically but emotionally. The goodbye feels unfinished and suddenly there’s no more brushing her hair, no more nighttime conversations, no more sunlight in her chambers, no more “Elenya look at this”

The red keep becomes emotionally hollow.

Then comes the war, this is crucial because Elenya is trapped in kings landing with NO information pipeline.

She is:

Not Noble, not politically important, not someone lords update,

Nobody, not even Cersei who herself assigned Elenya to her daughter thinks: “we should tell Elenya what happened to Lady Stark”

To everyone in the court, she’s just : a former attendant, a lady in waiting who got too attached

So she survives entirely on: Rumors, half-truths, overheard conversations. Which is torture for her.

The Red Wedding is basically Elenya breaking point and she never knows whether it y/n is alive or dead.

The realm hears: Robb Stark is dead, northern forces slaughtered, Lady Stark supposedly killed.

But no body is returned to king landing (as known to Elenya) and no confirmation reaches her directly

Which cause Elenya to enter state worse than grief, suspended grief.

She cannot mourn properly because uncertainty keeps hope alive and that destroys people emotionally.

Every day becomes:

“What if she survived”, “ what is she’s trapped”, “what is she’s coming home?

And because nobody values Elenya enough to explain the truth gently, she’s left alone with imagination.

And so in the ends the tide is left behind. Y/n was motion in Elenya’s life. Warmth, Purpose. Rhythm.

Without her: Elenya becomes quieter, emotionally withdrawn, unable to fully attach to others

Because that part of her remains psychologically frozen at sixteen: waiting for the princess to come home.
