What do you do after a fresh harvest of turmeric ? Make piping hot Manjal Elayappam with turmeric leaves. Now turmeric leaves aren't used much in Kerala with the exception of Kasargod ,but it is such a flavorful thing that it will be a shame to not use it. In Kerala, an elayappom or ela ada is typically made with banana leaves. Turmeric leaves perfume the delicate rice dough with coconut & jaggery giving it a different dimension all together. This is called Bellam Thatti Adya by Tuluvas & Paatolye by the Konkanis , often made in both Hindu & Christian festivities in Goa. People from Odisha also use these leaves to make enduri pitha but that is more savory in nature due to the less use of jaggery and the presence of urad dal in the dough. #foodloose #paatolye #manjal #elayappam #elaada #bellamthatti #adya #trivandrum #mangaluru #manjal #haldipatra #curcuma #turmeric #leaves #steamed #vegan #glutenfree #veganism #vegetarian #healing #gutfriendly #nativeindian #food #veganfoodgasm #steamer (at Papanamcode, Thiruvananthapuram) https://www.instagram.com/p/CJqwdZAFpeI/?igshid=ouwqfbb37l5s
