Sam maintains a pleasant expression, like he always tries to do, even if Spock makes the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. It's not like this is the first superior officer he hasn't been able to get along with. The whole hierarchy situation is one of the things about Starfleet that never sat right with him. When it's somebody like Chris? Sure. He'd listen to Chris even if he didn't have rank. He figures that his father's crew felt the same way about him.
But someone like Spock? A guy so damn smart that he never seems to have bothered to learn how to talk to people?
Look, Sam tries, but that doesn't mean it's easy.
"What'd I do this time? Anything in particular, or just existing?"
