France (fr) Imagine Tony Conrad & Faust reincarnated as a French punk trio in 2016, using only a minimal drum kit, bass guitar and hurdy-gurdy to drone you into another dimension. The set-up is simple but the results are mind-blowing. Repetitive pulsating rhythms, with pounding overtones created by the overdriven hurdy-gurdy. Obviously this stuff works best in a live-setting, with the amps cranked up to 11. Eklin started as a fairly abstract instrumental electronix trio in 2009 but evolved into a five piece band that produced a strange hybrid of atmospheric dreampop with female vocals and dubbed out trance rock as heard on their full-length Onwa. Nowadays Eklin seems to be operating mainly as a live unit with an ever changing line-up, chunking out improvised instrumental jams that focusses on their trance rock aspect. Tomaga (UK) TOMAGA is two musicians actively deconstructing their normal sonic palette in search of a new and unfamiliar sound world. Having played as musicians for many years in bands such as Shit N Shine, The Oscillation, Neon Neon, Raime, Voice Of Seven Thunders, and countless others, TOMAGA channels various forms of multi-instrumentalism into music that moves by turns through industrial, jazz, psychedelia and minimalism, on it’s way to somewhere wholly other. New material, new band members, first show in over two years! Eklin are completely unique in style, and it's almost impossible to pinpoint any of their musical influences.They've got this really ethereal, cavernous vibe going, sounding completely natural and organic almost always, with very minimal instrumentation… Eklin are an absolutely perfect machine when it comes to the rhythm section, with tightly syncopated percussion doing most of the work, deep pocket grooves, more then enough kraut-like pounding, and light, airy guitar flourishes that trickle down into the tiny cracks. Icy blue synths flow in and out of the songs smoothly, sounding like they're underwater and rising to the surface… Some parts of Onwa are similar to the primitive minimalism of Gang Gang Dance, but even that comparison doesn't do this justice. Eklin are definitely doing something painfully unique and fresh. - Cassette Gods Eklin are a Dutch band who inhabit a sound space almost completely free from reference or genre specificity. There minimalist Kraut rock like rhythms pounds out deep melodic grooves...
