I said from the beginning that I’m keeping it real, and that includes talking about days like today. I’m a grad student, but I also work full time, so I’m in an office about 60% of the week when I don’t have classes. On Monday and Friday, I’m in the office for the full day, sitting at a computer for 8 hours. As it happens, hours can go by before I realize I haven’t looked up from the computer. Since I started back running this summer, my step goal steadily increased throughout the week, though it would taper off on days I didn’t make it out. If I can get a run in, I surpass my goal and can usually double it, hitting around 12000 steps. But if I can’t get out, and I haven’t been on campus, or I’ve worked for hours without realizing I haven’t stood up and then don’t feel like doing anything at all afterwards, my day looks like this. For a while in early summer, it used to look like this everyday. It happens, you get in a slump, etc. But when you’ve been doing good for a while, hitting your steps, getting outside, these days still kinda suck. But that’s okay, I have to remind myself. Not every run is going to make you feel like you can conquer the world, nor are you going to feel like you’ve made an impact everyday. As long as you just get through it, because hey, it could be 0. .
