Summary: You were living in an apartment next to a military base because it was the cheapest option, but after an incident with a couple of recruits a lieutenant moves in to watch over them. Lucky for you this lieutenant ends up moving in right next door to you.

A/N: Just found out that 999 is the emergency line in England so that's pretty cool. I'm also not totally sure about the new year celebrations in England, but it's my fanfic so I'm going with the flow.
Next door
You lived in an apartment that was fairly close to a military base – you assumed that's why it didn’t cost as much to live where you did. Sadly – since you were a broke nurse – there would be no moving out of it soon.
It did have its pros; it was cheap, close to work and… uh… yeah, that was about it.
It did in fact have a whole list of negatives though; it smelt a lot in the place, the guys tended to be loud fairly late at night after coming back from drinking, and they also frequently tried to hit on you despite you saying no a lot.
These negatives usually came from new recruits who were still being trained and everything. You did get a few moments of reprieve during holidays like Christmas and such, since most people left to go visit their families. In times like those the apartment almost seemed like the perfect place.
Unfortunately for you it was new years eve. Something even more unfortunate was that there were a couple more newer recruits that decided to stay back and celebrate at the apartment.
At first it was the normal rowdiness from partying that you heard, but then you heard fireworks.
Now, as just a normal tenant you wanted to mind your own business and put your headphones in and ignore all the stupidity. Sadly, you were a nurse and would not be able to live the rest of your life guilt free knowing you couldn't help one of them after their inevitable firework injury.
You grumbled just a little, because you take this day off specifically so that you don’t have to deal with firework injuries.
You just kept your tv on low while you got to work on some mandatory modules that your work had recently asked you to do when you heard a scream. The firework injury you were guessing.
You sighed and grabbed your medkit to rush to go see if they were okay, they were in fact not okay. It seemed that one of the fireworks fell over and ended up shooting right towards someone's hand.
There was screaming from the guy on the ground and panicking from his friends constantly asking if he was going to be okay. You patched it up the best that you could while all the phone with 999.
While the guy was being hauled away there was a military truck that pulled up and out walked some what you assumed were pretty important people that looked pissed off. You tried to walk away – since your hands were covered in blood – but they called for you to come over to them.
You sighed and walked to them. There was an older guy that was wearing some hat and another guy who seemed to be wearing a skull mask that was taller than the older guy.
The older one introduced himself, “Firstly, I wanna thank you for helping out our two recruits. I'm Captain Price, but you can just call me John.”
You thought immediately, oh shit he’s important what did I just get myself into.
He had held out his hand out to shake until you showed him the blood on your hands and he apologized. “Sorry ‘bout that, would you be willing to give a rundown of the incident so we could write a report on it?
You said nervously, “Oh I had already given my statement to the police–”
He nodded, “Alright we’ll just get from them, sorry ‘bout all the hassle these recruits have caused tonight.”
You take a quick glance at the other man standing next to Price, curious. He never introduced himself or anything. He was acting like a guard dog for Price which you found interesting.
You smiled, “Oh, I’m a nurse so it’s no hassle.”

After that incident you assumed everything would be going back to normal. Most recruits started coming back from their holiday trips after a couple of days, previously empty space being filled ever so slowly again with noise.
You were coming back from buying some groceries when you saw some men gathered at the front of the apartment inside by the bulletin board – which is almost never used you might add.
There was a paper that was announcing that after an incident there would be someone moving in to keep the recruits in check. In your opinion they’re grown men and shouldn’t have to need a babysitter, but whatever, as long as it doesn't interfere with your day too much you don't care.
You went up to your apartment to see that someone was moving into the apartment next door to you that had been empty for a while. You decided to peak in and say hello on your way to your apartment, deciding that you were more nosey than socially anxious.
You peaked your head in and said a small, “Hello, you must be my new neighbor! I never knew someone new was moving in.”
The person then came out of a room in the apartment with a box and it was the guy on the night with the skull mask. Now you were really fascinated, and he lived next door so basically it was like you were meant to know him.
Now that you could see him clearly in the light you could see just how toned and just generally hot he was. You were curious if his face looked just as good as the rest of his body.
He looked you up and down and offered you a gruff hello. You lightly pushed, only because you wanted to know his name and said yours still keeping a smile. He seemed a bit disinterested in introductions, you guessed he probably didn’t want to be living in an apartment with a bunch of recruits but he introduced himself, “ Names’ Simon.”
You ended the conversation with a quick have a nice day before entering your place right next to his. You felt eyes on you while you were opening your door to which you assumed was Simon. After getting in your apartment you sighed and dropped your groceries on the floor by your fridge.
You giggled to yourself while putting your groceries away. Oh you were definitely going to make the most of your new neighbor.
