eiffel has plenty of faults that i won’t make excuses for (and i like that about him; it makes him more human and more compelling) but i seriously don’t care that he doesn’t want to work. why should he? he knows he’s considered disposable. like, when that actively endangers other people’s lives, sure. okay. but his unwillingness to participate in arcane corporate rituals or follow protocol or feign unearned respect? the extremes he will go to just to goof off and avoid drudge work? he’s ungovernable. he’s making things difficult as a matter of principle. goddard spent millions of dollars sending them up there and he’s going to give himself a stiff neck from cramming himself under a console because he thinks that’ll save him from getting caught sleeping on the job. both sexy and admirable.
