#eggweek2022

That’s right, folks: after a four-year hiatus due to various happenings of life, we’re finally bringing back the weeklong celebration of our beloved BYNMM (and Ms. Leah Thomas’s birthday)! 

The official dates are November 22nd-29th (just like last time), although we will of course still happily accept early or late posts! The prompt list will be posted later today (November 19th). Stay tuned throughout the celebration for more details!

Post your art, poetry, fic, analyses, memes, incoherent rambling, etc. with the tag #eggweek2022 so other fans can see it! We’ll also be reblogging all the submissions here on the blunderkinder blog. (Feel free to mention us in the post if you want to make extra sure we see it!)

in future years, egg week will likely continue to be held during the last week of november, leading up to our beloved ms. thomas’s birthday on the 29th. leah’s birthday is the original reason we picked that time period back in 2017.

as for doing a whole month, i did make a prompt list for eggtober™ back in 2020 (it can be found in the #info tag), and i’d be perfectly happy to make another one this year :)

also, if you have some fan content related to bynmm or leah’s other works that you’d like me to reblog here, feel free to tag @blunderkinder and i will do so without hesitation! beyond that, if you have specific ideas for further events, shoot me a dm (preferably on my main blog @anhedoniacity but here works too) and i will do what i can to bring them to life!

I can’t say much about today’s prompt without risking spoilers, but loss, and how people cope with it, are certainly major themes in Leah’s works. She expertly portrays the loss of relationships, of objects, and, frequently, of childhood innocence.

Starting off the week, we have something that appears in BYNMM in many forms— between individuals, and against the limitations of the characters’ own bodies and worldviews. Ollie’s allergy, Moritz’s pessimism, and the interminable physical distance between them are all obstacles they must overcome in order to reach beyond their narrow slices of the world.

Today’s prompt is pretty self-explanatory! Several different animals show up throughout BYNMM and NNY, and they are frequently both important to the story and also just adorable. Ollie’s beloved cat Dorian Gray comes to mind, as does the Arana household menagerie.
