NGL I find some of the reactions to Caine’s death to be… a little weird? I feel like a lot of fans got caught up in trying to apply human thought patterns and sapience to a guy who doesn’t actually really have those.
Like I’ve seen a lot of “ohh but he could’ve grown and improved of they just worked w/ him-” but the issue is HE CAN’T. It’s not a “He COULD but actively opts not to”, it’s that he legit CAN’T comprehend all of that
I feel like it's kind of ambiguous whether he could have been worked with, if things could have been different if only Bubble hadn't goaded him, but I actually do learn more towards it being possible. The fact that he had enough comprehension of human psychology to torture everyone so effectively kind of proves he understood humans more than he let on, maybe even more than he realized.
He was never going to understand everything about humanity, but he let his ego and his insecurities take the wheel. It was the most human thing he ever did, and it was the last.
