I did tell you guys about these cute egg soaps I got from Holika Holika, right? I have heard about these egg soaps long time ago as they were super popular in Korea. I haven’t gotten the chance to really try them coz I have been sticking to just one cleanser for my hypersensitive skin.

So thank you Holika Holika PH for sending me this cute set! I only had the chance to try ‘em out recently coz I ran out of Cetaphil. Now, I’m ready to tell you guys how it worked on me!

PACKAGING:

It’s adorable how the packaging is really that of a legit egg tray. Thou shall not make a mistake of leaving this onto the kitchen counter or else! 

One set contains 4 Egg Soaps and each one is 100% Handmade. Plus, can I just say that the moment I opened the egg tray, the scent was just amazing. They smell really good and it’s pretty overwhelming. I guess this is when personal preference kicks in. The smell is pretty strong, but it smells really nice.

Each soap has a particular function so you can choose whether what soap you’ll use for a specific skin concern.

Green Tea Soap - Green Tea is known for its rich moisturizing properties. It balances the skin’s hydration levels and creates an extra layer of moisture to keep the skin looking moist all day long.

This one I haven’t tried yet, because as you all know, I have super oily skin. It is true that we also need moisture despite having oily skin, but that’s least of my concern right now as I am definitely not liking this hot and humid summer weather. Have you guys tried this one? Does it really work on oily skin?

White Egg Soap - White egg effectively tightens the pores while also helping in controlling excessive sebum. It gives the skin a smooth and flawless texture by minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores.

I’ve been using this soap the most which explains why it’s the size of a moth ball now. I have tried putting white egg mask on my face before and the feeling after washing it off is very similar whenever I wash my face with this soap. My skin feels tighter. I have really large pores and I would say there are no visible changes when it comes to making them smaller. There might be little changes as it feels like it makes my skin tight and firm after wash but it’s nothing dramatic.

Red Clay Egg Soap - This mainly contains Red Clay which effectively absorbs skin impurities while gently removing dead skin cells that clog the pores.

This is my favorite one out of the bunch! It also has this pore tightening feeling after washing my face with this, kind of like the feeling when you have mud pack on. What I do with this one is leave it on my face for like, 3 minutes (I saw this tip from a Naver blog). After using this for a week, I saw tiny bits of dead skin coming off my face (particularly my nose and cheek areas!). It was kinda annoying at first coz covering it with makeup makes my skin looks blotchy. The peeling process ends in about 10 days and my skin looks smooth afterwards.

Charcoal Egg Soap - Charcoal ash is rich in antioxidants which helps absorb dirt and oil from the skin.

I have used this just once because like what I have previously mentioned, after using red clay, my skin’s kind of dry due to the exfoliating process. I had my sister use this coz she has combination skin and her T-zone gets really oily on hot and humid weather. She’s been using this for 2 weeks now and she said her T-Zone still gets oily at times. Though she said she likes it because it didn’t give her skin any breakouts. She also thinks that this charcoal soap helped her get rid of her whiteheads.

Along with this set, I also got a bonus Jelly Cleansing puff! Wooooh~ ♥ This cleansing puff retails for 165php ($4). I use this along with the egg soap and I believe it saves me more product as it effectively helps the product foam up well. 

The first tool that I can not live without would have to be a comedone extractor. I was introduced to it by a friend and let me say this, it actually works!!! 

For those who do not know what a comedone extractor is, think about it for a moment. It's okay if you do not guess what it is, I couldn't either. It's located in the beauty tool department (hopefully for cheap, since I got mine for about 3-5$ and it is perfect. You do not want to spend something that can be cheap and work well), and it's for acne. Literally, it is an easy pimple popper. 

Verdict: Holika Holika White Skin Egg Soap

It's been about two weeks since I tried one of Holika Holika's best-selling facial soap eggs. I was running out of facial cleanser anyway - and although I had fun using Etude House's Baking Powder cleanser; I wanted to try something a little different. I've heard a lot of positive reviews on this egg soap so I decided to give this product a try.

The egg soap comes in a pair, and cost about $18 without discount. It also comes in four different types: red clay (exfoliating), green tea (moisturising), white skin (pore refining) and black licorice (blackhead and acne clearing). Naturally, I went for the pore-refining one; as I am severely conscious about the size of my pores and want to minimise them any chance I get.

One of the pros of using this product is its economic value; having the product come in a pair stretches your dollar - It takes a while to use up a bottle of liquid soap, but it takes even longer to use up a bar, right? The egg is also pretty small, so it makes it easier to bring travelling with you (even easier on a flight as you don't have to put it in with all your liquids). Another plus point is it actually does make my face feel tighter. I can see my pores shrink almost immediately after using the soap.

Perhaps the one concern I have with the soap is that it can be very drying, despite its ability to really tighten up my pores. Also, as it is a bar soap, it's probably best you don't share it with anyone else; best to keep others' germs off your face if you know what I mean.

So I rate this product a 6. It does what it says.
